Taquerias Atotonilco started in Little Village in the early 1970s, bringing authentic Mexican flavors to Chicago. Founded on quality and tradition, it quickly became a favorite for its tacos and tortas. Famous for Al Pastor and juicy steak tacos, Atotonilco delivers the true taste of Mexico. Over the years, the Muñoz family expanded the business to suburbs like Joliet and Stone Park, while also offering catering and Taquizas. Despite its growth, it remains family-owned and committed to fresh ingredients and time-honored recipes. Don’t forget to try one of our famous milkshakes. Visit us for a meal you won’t forget!

They truly have the best tacos! You can ofcourse get the standard Mexican cilantro and onion only toppings and it’s amazing. I added some extra toppings on my last visit as I was craving avocados.

The food was amazing (highly recommend the queso birria!) and our server was super friendly with great recommendations. When we went to pay, Oscar was just as kind and welcoming. Both of them truly brightened our day. Great food, even better people — we’ll definitely be back!

There are so many other places to choose from. The meat is dry and flavorless the pastor was burnt. Our food wasn’t hot it was warm. The burrito we ordered barely had any type of meat. Oh the tacos are around $4.50 to $5.00 with minimal meat filling. They don’t have meal deals for example “taco dinner” everything is separate. I have never been to a Mexican restaurant where they charge you chips and salsa after asking if you’d like chips and salsa brought to the table. The plate of chips they bring to your table is $2.00 for like maybe 15 chips. The guacamole they serve portion wise does not equal the cost. It comes in the smallest dish equal to about 2 spoon fulls at $7.00 so not worth it at all. Not to mention they charge you inflation service fee on your bill. It is not up to your customers to pay for your business related expenses.

Long Review Short.
It was ALMOST PERFECT !
From the beginning to the end. The employees here greet you with the utmost respect.
Service was VERY Fast and polite, not 5 mins went by and our FOOD Arrived at Our Table ( 2 guests).
The BIRRIA is a Highly recommended choice, and the Fajitas (Asada) were savory. Luckily it was a Wednesday. They Have Specials for every Day Of Week…
Unfortunately it wasn’t the weekend so I can’t speak on The Menudo or Carne en su jugo…
That’ll be for another day.

Husband and I ate at this spot while in town for a wedding. It was so good that we convinced our friends to eat here with us the next day. Husband said it was one of his favorite burritos he ever had. I got the street tacos and they put so much meat on them – double of what others put in their street tacos!

I would love to give no stars.. went here with co workers for lunch. They couldn’t understand what we wanted. Took one of our people at least 10 minutes to get their food after everyone in our party received. Told them 3 times how many people were on our check. I was paying for 4 and they only had 3 on my check. I again told them I was paying for another person. I paid and left when I got a phone call saying I didn’t pay the other person’s I kept telling them I did. They then came to wear we were working and threatened to call the police. I will never visit this place again they do not know what there doing. They didn’t understand any English or Spanish so not sure what language they speak..
