I ate dinner at Casa Grande at 1655 Robb Dr in Reno and ended up posted at the bar, which was exactly the right call for the kind of night I was having. I was seated immediately, and the staff was friendly from the start—welcoming, attentive, and easy to talk to without hovering. The bar crowd was also part of the fun; I enjoyed the company of a few folks nearby and it had that relaxed, neighborhood-spot feel even though I was just passing through.

I started with the chips, salsa, and bean dip, and they were seriously tasty (like in my photos)—fresh, snackable, and the kind of opener that keeps you reaching back into the basket while you’re waiting for your main plate. I ordered the steak Tacos al Carbon and a Pacifico, and the tacos delivered. Good flavor, satisfying portion, and everything came out the way I hoped it would: simple, hot, and filling without being heavy.

I’d return if I’m back in the area, especially if I want an easy dinner with a friendly atmosphere and a good bar seat.

Arrived at the bar with the last stool available. Ordered a great Cadillac Margarita that was excellent made by Val. I ordered the Muy Especial with a tender skirt steak and tasty shrimp with sauteed mushrooms, pico de gallo, beans and rice. In the middle of the large plate was an infused garlic butter with seasoning that I enjoyed immensely for shrimp, even applied it to the rice. Chips, salsa picante and bean dip. Bean dip was a little thin but, Oh so tasty. Oh yes I enjoyed the fresh homemade flour tortillas. Great service and a friendly staff with a can do attitude. Love to visit here again on my next visit to Reno.

We love this place! My husband dreams about the carne asada fries and wishes he could give them 6 stars. It’s always decorated for holidays and the staff is wonderful. We had a great Valentine’s Day dinner!

Oh my goodness everyone was super friendly and welcoming. The menudo hit the spot and my bffs favorite part wss the spicy beans they brought out with the salsa. The chips weren’t store bought so that was even better because they held up to the homemade bean dip.

Finally found a Mexican restaurant that I feel good about taking the whole family to. There is something for everyone including a burger for the picky kiddos.
Great booth seating, amazing old school service and excellent food.
Everything was very hot, fresh and tasty.
The atmosphere is great. There has been great care taken to make this restaurant look old world and authentic. And it was meticulously clean.
We will definitely be back. Thank you for a great experience.

Such a joy! They have it decorated so nicely for Christmas, all staff were super kind and helpful and provided great service, and the food was amazing!!!
The bean dip with the chips and salsa really sets this place apart – it’s a small thing that is hugely impactful to the experience and goes a long way.
Will recommend and return.

Casa Grande Mexican Restaurant in Reno is a true gem for anyone who loves authentic Mexican cuisine and a genuinely welcoming dining experience. From the moment you walk through the door, you’re greeted by the inviting aromas of fresh spices and sizzling meats, and the friendly staff make you feel instantly at home. The servers at Casa Grande are attentive without being overbearing—they take the time to explain the menu, offer personal recommendations, and check in often to make sure your meal is just right. Their warmth and genuine hospitality add so much to the overall atmosphere, making it easy to relax and enjoy your visit.

One of the highlights at Casa Grande is definitely the chips and salsa. The chips arrive at your table warm, crisp, and just salty enough, paired with a salsa that’s packed with real flavor and just the right amount of kick. It’s the perfect way to start your meal, and you’ll probably find yourself reaching for more before your main dishes arrive.

If you enjoy seafood, the ceviche at Casa Grande is a must-try. It’s bright, zesty, and made with the freshest ingredients—each bite brings a burst of citrus and a perfect balance of flavors that really stand out. For something more substantial, the Carne Asada is a real crowd-pleaser. The steak is always tender, juicy, and full of that smoky, savory flavor you want from great Mexican food. It’s served with classic sides that round out the meal, making it both filling and memorable.

Casa Grande’s atmosphere is lively yet comfortable, and the décor adds to the feeling that you’re enjoying a meal in a place that truly values tradition. The authenticity of the dishes, combined with the genuinely friendly service, makes this spot a favorite for locals and visitors alike. Whether you’re meeting friends for dinner, celebrating with family, or just grabbing a quick bite, Casa Grande always delivers an amazing experience. If you’re looking for real Mexican food and a welcoming place to enjoy it, you can’t go wrong here—especially if you order the ceviche, Carne Asada, and those unforgettable chips and salsa.

Went there for the first time today. We freaking loved it. Fast service but really good food. The staff kind of made you feel like family. My wife asked if she could order a combo that wasn’t on the menu. The waiters response “of course, whatever you want”. Definitely going back.
