Au Passage is a wonderful place with lovely staff, fantastic food and a great wine list. The stand out dish was the grilled duck hearts but it was all good. Audrey the manager, and sommelier, recommended a superb bottle of wine and was charming.
It was definitely the best meal we had in Paris.
My only slight criticism was that neither of the two desserts were appealing but that is my personal taste not liking either violets or lavender. Otherwise faultless.

We had 24 hours in Paris. A girls trip of 5 friends who hadn’t seen each other in more than a year together. We chose au passage for dinner, and couldn’t have been more please did. Super cool low key vibes, varied menu packed with flavour, helpful and happy service and great wines. Highly recommend!

Very tasty dinner, where you share the food. The dishes though are very small and quite expensive. Kind waiters but we had to wait very very long to order. The wine was not in our taste.

Came in for a few small bites to one of my favourite restaurants in Paris. Food is always inventive, the service friendly, casual but well informed and the wine selections are fantastic!!

A Memorable Meal at Au Passage – Our Favorite in Paris!

My boyfriend and I decided to celebrate our 3rd anniversary in Paris, and as a big fan of Anthony Bourdain’s show, I immediately rewatched his Paris episode for inspiration. That’s how I discovered Au Passage. Although the episode is already several years old, I was happy to see that the restaurant is still very popular—and now I understand why!

We were staying in Montmartre, but we made the trip to the Marais especially for this dinner, and it was absolutely worth it. I would say this was the best meal we had during our stay in Paris.

We loved the shared plates concept, which is perfect for couples who enjoy tasting a variety of dishes. We ordered the oysters, yellowfin sashimi, tuna tartare, sweetbread, and mackerel. Each dish was beautifully presented (yes, I took photos of everything!) and absolutely delicious. The bread was also fantastic, and the wine paired perfectly with our meal.

A small note about the service: we arrived about 10 minutes before opening time, and instead of being offered a table or a drink while waiting, we were asked to wait outside. Then, when the restaurant opened, other guests started to walk in, and we had to make our way in as well, even though the waiter knew we were the first to arrive. It also seemed like they were still doing some prep (cutting bread, filling water bottles) right as service was starting. That said, once we ordered, the food arrived fairly quickly—especially the cold dishes, which came out first. There was a small pause before the sweetbread and mackerel arrived, but nothing too long.

The atmosphere is relaxed and informal, and while the staff is friendly, they might benefit from an extra team member to speed things up during busy hours. Some tables near us who arrived later waited about 30 minutes for their first dishes.

Overall, though, we were super happy and will definitely return. The food is amazing, the vibe is cozy, and the prices are very fair for the quality. My tip: arrive early and enjoy the relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere—and one of the best meals in Paris.

I want to give it higher marks because the dishes were very creative and there was clearly a lot of thought of into their conception, however the execution was lacking and a bit lackluster. When we arrived, we sat down and first noticed that there was no AC. This wasn’t an issue at first, but as the restaurant got more crowded, there was a serious issue with heat and air circulation. It was also odd that they had no English menus considering most of the clientele, as far as I could tell, were English speakers. Gave off kind of a pretentious vibe, especially since the menu was 1 small page bound into a small booklet. We ended up ordering the tuna tartar, yellowtail sashimi, fried polenta, octopus, and duck breast. The tuna tartar was OK. A little too much mayonnaise for my taste. The sashimi and polenta dishes were great, but the octopus and duck were very tough. Also the chorizo sauce for the octopus was way too acidic, you couldn’t taste the chorizo at all. For the duck, there was a cherry sauce, which was the best part of the dish, but the duck itself kind of felt only lukewarm. We then had to wait maybe 30 min before they brought our check, even though we asked twice. Overall, overpriced for what is was.

A fantastic discovery! Delicious dishes with very original compositions mixing Italian and French flavors. We loved our dinner here! The chef is Japanese and worked for a long time in Italy. There is a nice wine list as well. The place is well decorated and the staff friendly and welcoming. I’d strongly recommend coming here. Booking is highly advised – the place is always full!
