Piccolo Buco Roma — set mere steps from Rome’s famed Trevi Fountain — is where Cooper’s Hawk Founder, Tim McEnery, first discovered Chef Luca Issa and his wonderful pizza. The ingredients were deceptively simple: creamy, indulgent mozzarella mingled with a bright and bold tomato sauce. But it was the extraordinary, tall crust — crisp on the outside yet cloud-like at the center — that won his heart. He couldn’t wait to introduce America to a pizza this special!

Today was our first time; everything was amazing. I ordered the pasta with short ribs, and it was outstanding. Definitely all the highlights go to Angelicque, our server; she was super kind and attentive and did a great job with our lunch.

Absolutely loved Piccolo Buco in Oak Brook! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious. The pizza was perfectly wood-fired, and the pasta was fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Italian in a beautiful setting

We tried this new-to-us restaurant last night. Piccolo Buca is a restaurant by Cooper’s Hawk. I have to say the food was amazing and I like Piccolo much better than Coooer’s Hawk. The wine, though, is just meh. My husband tried two wines and sent them back and ended up with an old fashioned, which was very good. My glass of rosé was just okay. Next time I’ll go the cocktail route or try one of their frozen sangrias. I was never into the wine made by Cooper’s Hawk. Give me a Davis Estates or a Sineann wine any day.
The restaurant itself is large with a small outdoor seating area by the parking lot. There’s a nice bar area when you walk in. True to Cooper’s Hawk restaurants, there’s wine and gifts to purchase when you enter the restaurant. It’s a very noisy restaurant; however I was able to hear my husband across the table. Our server was Maria and she was a delight. Engaging and friendly, she provided good service.
Now for the best part…the food.
We started out with the crispy stuffed squash blossoms, which were phenomenal. The blossoms had a great crispiness on the outside with a creamy cheesy center. I recently went to Martha Stewart’s Vegas restaurant and her squash blossoms couldn’t even compare. Piccolo’s was the best I’ve ever eaten. Next we shared a charred pepperoni pizza. That crust had a great char (as did the pepperoni) with a puffy airy edge. Perfect Neapolitan style. The last thing we shared was the mezzo rigatoni à la vodka. The rigatoni was cooked to the right tenderness and the vodka sauce was light, yet creamy. Even though I didn’t eat the Italian sausage and left that for my husband, it added great flavor to this dish.
Chef’s kiss to every course.

Went here the day after Christmas and had lunch. It was crowded but we were able to get a table right away. I had the Parmesan Chicken sandwich and Espresso Martini and both were great.

Yet another amazing restaurant in this neighborhood/suburb. Great service and food. We will definitely come back to explore other menu options. Pizza was delicious! I didn’t like frozen cocktails, but that’s my taste. Great arancini! Madison was so lovely and cheerful, brightened up my day!!

A decent place for Italian food, definitely overrated. We went there for the pizza … the crust was very good good but toppings a little low on flavor imo. The place was quite busy, and so the service was also relatively slow, and the waitress wasn’t the best.
Tiramisu was great. Was not a fan of rhe pound cake.

3.5** overall

I had vodka sauce pasta. I had to send it back due to its over powering salt content. Just horrible. The service has to be picked up. Ordered a lemon drop with grey goose. He brought two. And didn’t remove it from the bill. I asked for some red sauce to try, as this was our first visit. Never arrived. And no bread service? I’ve Never been to an Italian restaurant or some sort of Italian themed restaurant that does not offer a bread service. At least one that you’d have to pay for a few chose. But there was no choice here. And the horrible vodka sauce pasta? Didn’t remove it from the bell either. Despite my eating perhaps 1/5 of it. I tried to be kind but I just couldn’t eat it. So in short I believe this restaurant needs to have a better set of servers. Bread service. And maybe someone who cooks who does not spill a box of salt and the sauces. Wish I could say better things. But this is the best I could do. Three stars largely are for the atmosphere. Which was very good

This was my first time there and I really enjoyed it. I loved the Caesar salad. The Nduja pizza was very tasty but I could’ve used more of the sausage in it. I had a Rossi Martini, make that, I had two! Really delicious and not overly sweet. My daughter had the Spaghetti Carbonara and enjoyed it, too! Our server, Brittany, was very friendly and attentive.

Espresso Martini was very good. Cacio was Pepe was disappointing. Pasta was stuck together and hard in parts. Sauce was minimal and not creamy as should be. I did not expect it to be as it was when we were in Italy last month but for the price I would have expected quality.
