At our Augusta, GA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

This Captain D’s is horrible. The handful of times that I have patronized this establishment has not been worth my hard earned money. The fish has always look thin and dehydrated. Today they were tasteless. They charged me for the mac n cheese but literally gave me a very small child sized portion. Everything tasted dry. Every person who works there needs to be fired including the manager. The last time I was there, the manager was a supervisor and she actually rolled her eyes at me when I asked of they had any bigger pieces of fish. I will not spend any more money here. The intelligence of the employees explain why the education is so deplorable in this area.

The food was just okay (4/10). My online order took an additional 15 minutes to prepare, and the staff could definitely use a lesson in customer service; they were talking loudly about personal topics instead of focusing on orders. Given how long it took, the food should have been hot and fresh, but it was only lukewarm.

I visited this location on Saturday and the store’s a/c was either broken or turned off. It was quite hot inside the restaurant. Also I had to wait nearly 30 minutes for my order. Moreover, the fried catfish is now the size of catfish nuggets rather than a normal size piece of catfish. It looked as if the fish had been cut in half before frying. Lastly, a lot of the better side dishes are being sold at an additional “premium upcharge”, in addition to the cost of your meal. I won’t return to this food chain. This was my first time ever going to a Captain D’s and I must say it, was an uncomfortable experience. The lady working must’ve had a bad day because she did not treat me like I belonged there. I accidentally paid too much for my food not knowing the drink would cost a decent amount extra and that there’s no combo meal, which is fine but I have never been forced to answer questions quickly when I don’t know where things are located, and then been forced to take a seat at a restaurant before. I wasn’t trying to be rude, just wanted to put a straw in my drink and stayed standing while doing so, but I guess this was suspicious? It was so strange. Obviously I’m going to take a seat and don’t want any issues so just let me please. Next time have more patience and kindness towards your customers. I swear I wasn’t trying to be rude, although I was upset I accidentally paid more than anticipated had I known better. Probably won’t be coming back due to the atmosphere here.

I decided to go grab a bite to eat before my sons basketball practice. I requested 2 of the 2 piece fish and fries for 5.99. Once order was taken I was quoted a price of 10.84. I thought to myself that price isn’t right so when I arrived at the window I asked did you get me for 2 of the 5.99 meals . She responded with not greatest of attitude yes I gave you a deal. So I said ok I just wanted to make sure I’m paying the correct amount. I receive to food and go to McDonald’s which is maybe 5 min away and start to attempt to eat my food. When I open the tray the smell is not inviting at all so I break the fish in half and smell it. The fish smelled horrific. It smelled spoiled and its not the fish im used to when I eat captain D’s. I then call to explain the situation to the manager or coworker acting like the manager. There was no apologies for my inconvenience and no empathy whatsoever after I explain what I’ve observed. I further express that I just want a refund because now this has messed my appetite up. She proceeds to tell me if it’s been 10 minutes She can only replace it because they won’t be able to find it in the system. I explain to her I just left so she says to come on back. I get there and I tell her I just want a refund she says they can replace it but they can’t refund when I payed cash and provided receipt. I then ask so is this Capatin D’s protocol to deny refund after 10 minutes she then speaks to her manger and says 30 minutes. It went from 10 minutes to 30 minutes. Make it make sense. Whole time every staff member standing around looking crazy like I did something wrong. Suddenly all eyes are on me like I’m tne problem. Whole time you all sold me some bad fish. Customer service was horrible from the staff to the Manager and to make matters worse this is the 2nd time I have receive spoiled rotten fish from this establishment. Its been a year and I thought I would give them a try in hopes that I wouldn’t be disappointed. Only to arrive and leave with the same dilemma. I will never return. I will definitely share this experience with everyone I know and everyone I come across never to come to this establishment.

Place was packed with Sunday after church crowd. There were only 3 ladies running the show and they were hustling! They got our food out in no time, cleaning tables, cutting lemon, getting refills.
The new lobster rolls were DELICIOUS as was the fried okra.
Great job! Highly recommend!

My usual is a Two-Piece Breaded Fish Dinner with an Extra of Five Breaded Deep Fried Shrimp, Steamed Broccoli, & Hushpuppies. LOVE the added Fried Crispy Crumbles they always add to every order!
