Wow ! We lucked out. Another nearby bbq place was a hot mess, so we rerouted and came here. The brisket is some of the best we’ve ever had, not dry at all and great flavor. Same for the pulled pork ! We got four sides: sweet potato casserole (um…yum), green beans, baked beans, and coleslaw. The staff was super friendly, the food came quick, and it was fairly priced. And the pickles and pickled onions were so good too.

So Thatcher Barbecue Company is the cause of the barbecue paradox. The meat is so good on its own you want to eat it plain but the sauce is so good you want to drown the meat in it hence resulting in the barbecue paradox. Our server Rocky was sweet and funny. The other staff were sweet too but Rocky’s job is BBQ and she loves her job! The food was amazing! We sampled their brisket, pulled pork, and burnt ends and all were fantastic especially the burnt ends. We also sampled four sides – baked beans, potato salad, hash brown casserole, and burgoo. All very solid and tasty. If you’re in the area I highly recommend a stop at Thatcher’s for some great barbecue.

The best place to eat near Natural Bridge if you ask me! Second time going and I got the pulled pork Nacho’s. They were delicious and had great portions of everything on there. My girl got the loaded Mac and cheese and loved it. Last time I got the BBQ sundae and I think I’ll be getting that from now on! They also serve boba there now which is nice.

Sometimes its really good for the price but last night 9/12 ; Got burned bread and the wrong sides. Also had bones in the pulled chicken, just glad my 14month old didn’t get it. But the Mac n cheese and Hasbrown casserole was a big hit. Also the service was really good, she was super nice. Owner likes to blame customers for this.

I went to this BBQ restaurant with my wife and some family friends with their children after going to see the natural bridge close by, we all had something different but I had the Ribs with some sides and they were delicious, my wife had the chicken and she loved it, the kids had the pulled pork and their plats were left empty, so we were all very happy with the food.
This looks to be a very popular place and kept very clean. the food is very tasty and the staff were very friendly.

The pulled pork sandwich had good pulled pork, but the bun was small and not Toasted. The Mac and cheese was very good, so was the tea. We were not a fan of the sweet corn, which came out like more of a corn casserole.

Unfortunately I couldn’t give 5 stars because the brisket was recommended as some of their best and I didn’t know what to pick so I just got the 2 meats and a few sides. I got the pulled pork and brisket. The pulled pork was good and the brisket didn’t taste bad but it was dry as a chip.
I think I just made the wrong selection. The people beside me had amazing looking food and they all said it was really good so I asked what the 4 of them got and they said it was their 1st time so they all just chose the top 4 listed on the favorites.
So I would say if it’s your first time then choose from the favorites list and hopefully the brisket isn’t always that dry. But everything else was great. I do enjoy having a sweet BBQ sauce choice and they have one, but their BBQ sauce was still good. And the service was great!

We visited the Red River Gorge area for 4 days and this was the BEST food we had the entire time. Ordered takeout. Quality and taste of the smoke meats were top notch. Only item I didn’t like and is one of my favorites was the banana pudding. Would reorder everything else. If you appreciate good BBQ, you’ll like Thatchers!

The service was good but the food wasn’t. Best thing was the coleslaw, it was creamy and nice. Ordered the brisket with 2 sides, brisket was so dry you could literally see the dryness, not much flavor at all, very bland. I didn’t even eat an entire slice, they said it just came off smoker, this was probably the worst brisket I’ve ordered at a BBQ place. One side was mac and cheese, it was cold and seemed kinda old, they replaced it for me with fresh. The staff was very friendly though and place was very clean. Maybe it was an off day, but for me, I won’t be back. In the pictures you can see how dry this brisket was. Also, they give a piece of loaf bread with meal, it was ice cold like from a fridge laid on top of my meat. So, the bread, mac and cheese and brisket were not very warm at all.

Thatcher’s BBQ: Smoked, Sauced & Seriously Satisfying
If you’re near Red River Gorge and even thinking about BBQ, do yourself a favor and head to Thatcher’s.
I ordered the BBQ Sundae—and wow. Layers of pulled pork, baked beans, and slaw stacked in a cup like a smoky, savory parfait of perfection. Every bite was balanced, bold, and downright phenomenal.
We also tried the brisket, which was melt-in-your-mouth tender with just the right bark and smoke. And let’s talk about the potato salad—creamy, tangy, and hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. It might’ve stolen the show.
This place is casual, quick, and full of flavor. Thatcher’s isn’t just a meal…it’s a BBQ experience you’ll want seconds (and thirds) of.
