When it was time to take our payment, our waitress was in the back with the party. We asked if someone else could cash us out, she explained that our waitress was in the back. We told her we had to leave so we would make our tour on time in Lancaster. She said she would get the manager. When he came out and we handed him checks/payment, he put them back on the table and said “I don’t have time, I need to go make kids meals”. We had to wait for our waitress to come back. The other waitress then said we could pay by scanning our checks, that worked for two of us but wasn’t working for the other two in our party so they had to wait for the waitress to cash out. We ended up being 15 minutes late to our tour in Lancaster county and almost had to forfeit our tour tickets.
We understand they suddenly got busy but we honestly thought that the time we budgeted would be fine, especially doing as much as we could to be efficient and to help move things along. Some of the response at the the end of the visit seemed rude, especially by the manager. How can the restaurant run smoothly and efficiently and the restaurant staff be expected to be respectful to guests if that is how the manager acts?
Seating: Our host had us at a table within minutes. We asked for a slightly different arrangement, and he obliged. Thanks!
Section: We were a 6-top. The table beside was a 9-top. A family of 5 was behind us. A single and a double rounded out the room… all for one server! 20+ patrons with 10+ kids. (Shout out to Mason!)
Selection: What a fun and varied menu! Something for everyone. Everything from “fish and chips” to “Teriyaki chicken bowl” was on the table.
Service: Timely delivery of lukewarm food. Not a deal breaker; we know what we’re getting in to at Friendly’s. French fries though… they MUST be hot and crispy, or you should just throw them away. Our fries would have been better served to the dumpster.
Lobster bisque. I shouldn’t have gotten seafood there. That one is my fault. I know better. It was runny and unflavored. No real lobster to speak of. I was curious so you don’t have to be!
For the most part, the food was good and the servings were hefty.
The finale was ice cream. That, in fact, was the real reason we went there. They’ve added malted vanilla milkshakes. Winner! The sundaes and scoops were portioned and made well.
TL;DR – Go for the ice cream and shakes, not the seafood or fries. Sit in Mason’s section. She rocks.
All in all four solid stars.
This girl was clearly new and thought she knew everything. She didnt. Plus last time we went there, they could make my friend’s food with cheese.
We got wet straws. And my ice cream scoops on my sundae were tiny. The sundae is normally a big sundae.
