We were taking 2 other couples out for dinner here. We arrived a little early to secure a table for 6. We weren’t allowed to be seated until at least one other couple arrived. I thought that was weird. Eventually we were seated. The staff was friendly although they seemed hurried and impatient. The food arrived quickly and was very good.
My wife had the Enchilada Verde and I has the El Corporal taco salad.

First time trying El Caporal. Brought my family in, we had a nice time and was met with friendly service. Our food was decent, we had the combination plates and and the house special taco salad. I will say basic food flavor and standard mexican style dishes. Not outstanding like some reviews mention, definitely not bad either. If you’re looking for amazing food, maybe pass, or try something else on the menu.

Pretty good Mole,
Packaged chips, decent salsa,
Large menu
California prices
Attentive service
Didn’t care for the shredded “yellow cheese”. Tex-Mex?
Had better beans and beef in Tucson.
Hey it’s Oregon, not bad but decent.
Girasol in Klamath is better for a 2 hr drive

We absolutely love this place — hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Bend. We’ve been here more times than I can count, and every single visit has been solid. The food is always fresh and full of flavor, the drinks are dialed in, and the service never misses.
Pablo and Lin behind the bar are next-level — fast, friendly, and they pour some of the best cocktails in town. Anna crushes it as a waitress, and honestly, every server we’ve had has been just as good. The whole staff is welcoming and actually cares about the experience you have here.
It’s rare to find a place where the food, the atmosphere, and the people all hit this consistently. Our kid’s even ask to go to El Caporal over anywhere else. We keep coming back because it never disappoints. Highly recommend.

Pretty good sit down mexican food restaurant. I got the asada burrito and was happily surprised to get a full plate of rice beans and guacamole with my burrito. Burrito was covered in cheese and sauce. All tasted pretty good. Atmosphere was very clean and good interior design and layout. Bar area is a bar and table seating. Family dining was well spaced out and nice furniture. From what I saw of the kitchen prep area it looked very clean and tidy. One gripe is small parking lot. Price seemed on par for 2026 sit down food. Roughly 20 bucks a head without liquor or beer. Ill go back in the future.

Only 4 other tables. The gentleman who seated us first was kind and nice , the lady who gave us drinks and chips was rude. The gentleman who took are order was nice but service was very slow and they forgot about us. Food wasn’t that great maybe it was an off day for them

When I first stepped inside, I was pleasantly surprised that they had the decor matching the cuisine. They had plenty of tables and chairs throughout the restaurant so they had a lot of room. With a good mix of bench seating, booths, and tables.

The menu seem to have plenty to choose from, however, when I was looking at the tostadas, one of the options seemed more like a taco salad than it was a tostada, so I was a little confused, but I thought I would try it.

Sure enough, the salad was in a bowl not a flat tortilla shell. So that would make it a taco salad. The choices of meat were varied, however, the ground beef that I had was soaking in oil, and the lettuce appeared to be very wet, which means that the bottom of my taco salad was a lake of oil water mix

I will say that the food was served fairly quick, however, that tells me that all of the food is premade and sitting in the back ready to be put together.

After eating about a quarter of my taco salad, I tipped my plate and saw about what seemed to be a quarter inch of oil/water. I told the waitress and she promptly asked if I would like to get something else. They quickly took care of me so I give them credit for making the situation right. The next go around I decided to go with enchiladas instead, and I had chicken instead of the beef. The food was OK, however, I think that it could use a little bit more seasoning. There was no heat there was very little cumin, and I think they could just spice it up some more.

The prices are on par with pretty much everybody else in the area, however, given the quality of food, I think it would’ve been nicer if they were a little less expensive.

This is our go-to for sit-down Mexican food on the east or west side. They’re super nice people who make great food. Love the chimi, chile relleno, nachos, taco salad, steak picado and more. This place is solid. Especially considering what else is on offer in the PNW.

Updated review since owner accused me of lying about bland food and terrible service and accused me of never having come to the restaurant. Couldn’t get servers attention and overpriced food was sour and cooked wrong and bland. OG review- Took over an hour to get in and out with slow service. No wait. 20 dollars for bland tomato sauce enchiladas? Are you kidding? There’s no spices or seasoning on any foods or salsa. The prices are outrageous (15 dollar tacos with no rice or beans? Wild! 16 dollar non organic guacamole? That’s half a tank of gas!) the server never brought a single refill for our drinks. No chip refills. Was thirsty the whole meal. Order was messed up first time and had to sent back. Mexican Girlfriend got a burrito and said it was sour and could barely finish it, so we opened it up and I’m pretty sure they were using friskier cat food! I hope we don’t get sick! No idea why people keep coming here to eat with the bad service, crazy prices, and bland food. I think I was the only non blonde person here? Customers even seemed a bit sheltered who have never eaten at a Mexican restaurant besides Taco Bell before. The cat food photo is a comparison to the texture and taste of the beef they used. Even menu said beef chunks but burrito has sour shreds for some reason. Rice was actually very good surprisingly but that’s it. I guess most of Bend just isn’t good for authentic Mexican food. Prices are just wild though. They even have a 28-30 dollar burrito. That’s filet mignon prices are actual steakhouses. Never had a restaurant reply and attack versus apologizing.

The atmosphere is nice and decent. There are no seafood dishes on the menu except shrimp. We ordered the lunch menu. There’s a significant( negative) difference between the meal and what was described in the menu. The chicken portion was very small, and the chicken breast was extremely tough. See picture. $17 is outrageous. I won’t come again. The tortillas were just average.
