Visit our new location (still in downtown Boone) one block over on Howard St (next to The Local). We still have the same great full service menu and experience that Melanie’s has always been know for, but now we also have a casual hang out space with a full bar and espresso. Sit down for weekend brunch, plug in with a laptop between classes, grab a cappuccino or a drink at the bar, you have options now!
Mellow eatery serving a farm-to-fork American menu, from breakfasts to burgers, in a country setup.

Best eggs Benedict I have ever had. Benedict Odysseus. With cheddar instead of feta and add sautéed mushrooms. The chefs know how to cook and it’s sooooo tasty! Everything was delish- even the latte. My husband said his omelet was easily the best he’s ever had. The waitress remembered all of our order and was very helpful with some of the parties gluten and dairy allergy/ sensitivity.
Great restaurant. A must visit while you visit Boone!

We came here because it was recommended as one of the best breakfast spots, but honestly, we left disappointed.
The food is 6/10 at best. The space was nice, service was average, and the coffee nothing special.
Prices make no sense—way overpriced—and the portions do not match what you pay.
One of the most expensive breakfasts of my life. It might have been okay if the flavor and portions were reasonable, but I definitely wouldn’t come back.
I ordered the avocado toast. In some photos, it looks like two slices of toast, but I got a tiny piece of toast with a thin layer of avocado, a bunch of leaves, a thick slice of tomato, and two overcooked eggs.
If you’re someone who wants to actually eat and feel satisfied, this is not a good option.
If you just want coffee and a nice place to sit, fine. But if you’re going to eat a proper breakfast, there are much better options.

It was a Warm and sunny Saturday Morning. We were in town and the wife had been to the old location, so we said let’s go. Upon arrival we put our name on a list and it was just 30 minutes. Close to a lot so you can easily kill some time. Or you can go to the back inside and there is a coffee bar and bar.
The menu selection is great, little bit of everything, and a good coffee selection.
We had the eggs Benedict, stuffed French toast and our 2 year old had the kids breakfast plate.
We were all quite satisfied. Great spot.

it’s a must stop in boone always and the new space is gorgeous! something for everyone in my family, from vegan to classic eggs benedict. the coffee and mimosas are perfect, the staff is pleasant and accommodating, the food is AWESOME and filling! recently my daughter left something important behind and we were already hours away before we realized… the manager kindly sent it back to us, made my daughter’s day, that’s excellent customer service!

Talk about a signature Boone restaurant – you’ll struggle to find anyone who doesn’t appreciate a good meal and soaking up the sun on the patio at Melanie’s!
Food:
Potato Madness! – crispy potatoes, sautéed with onions, peppers, mushrooms, topped with 2 eggs (your way), and cheese. The cooks DELIVERED! This plate was exactly what I needed for a good Sunday brunch after church. Eggs were cooked a perfect over-medium. The potatoes were seasoned amazingly; so much flavor coming through. Perhaps the potatoes could have been crispier, otherwise, perfection. I recommend choosing goat cheese as the sharpness compliments the dish extremely well.
The bacon avocado burger. Zero complaints. The burger was messy (as one should be) and hard to put down (partly because of how juicy it was and how tasty!). Once again, cooked a perfect medium well. I would also recommend the house made pimento cheese. Fresh fruit, never fails.
Also, the Mel’s bread speaks for itself. Crispy outside and soft inside – think English muffin and hamburger bun had a baby.
Service:
Sunday around lunch time in Boone, you better expect a wait at any restaurant. We had a 20ish minute wait but did so at their coffee bar. Fun atmosphere. Bustling staff. Positive energy. That being said, the servers were possibly stretched a little thin and though our drinks never went empty, we didn’t see much of ours.
Ambiance:
Think the song Blue Sky by the Allman Brothers Band and you get the Melanie’s vibe. Awesome patio area.
Location:
Tucked back behind King Street on Howard Street, it can be difficult to find and currently near impossible to park at due to construction. Park as close as you can and enjoy a nice walk. Unfortunately, not super accessible for the time being.
Rating:
9.5/10
A true “Boone day” wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Mel’s!

We try the Corn beef hash, chicken and waffles and mixed fruit waffle. Everything was delicious. Big portions. Our server was super friendly, she did a great job. The place is clean and big, I can only imagine how busy it gets when school is in session. We will definitely be back.

Stopped at Melanie’s for breakfast this morning! There was a 10-15 minute wait, but once seated, we had quick service. Indoor and outdoor seating available. I had the Melanie’s Pecan Waffle and my husband had the Avocado Bacon Benedict. Both were great!

I came from out of town with the intention of trying one restaurant and one coffee shop in Boone. Melanie’s was the choice for brunch. Melanie’s apparently serves burgers without mentioning that they are medium rare. I would have never ordered a burger or would have emphasized well done. Which my burger I cut down the middle to find there was bloody beef juice running out of it. I immediately sent it back to the kitchen I was with two friends and my son. The other burger took 30 minutes to come out and by this time my friends had already eaten and we were beginning to fall off schedule waiting for it. So we requested that they remove it from the bill which they did and they tried to offer the burger for free but at that point the entire experience was just ruined. It was honestly such a strange dining experience. When we told the staff at the front desk they were rude, had a terrible attitude and our table was directly behind the front desk and we could hear them bickering about us and that just added another level of terrible to this uncomfortable dining experience. I do not recommend Melanie’s unless you want a raw burger with a side of awful service. As for the ambiance? Bickering staff seems to cover it.

Clean place, a bit overpriced for breakfast fare. Home fries are overcooked. Parking is an issue- a notice on the front door would be helpful. 3 our 3 staff had no clue about parking issues across the street.. management should take 2 minutes to teach staff…we were dealing with emails from parking monitoring service on our phones instead of enjoying each other’s company. Nice ambience.$17 omelets are of questionable value.
