We were celebrating a milestone birthday, so everyone from the hostess to the waitress to the sushi chefs wished my husband a happy birthday and made sure we were taken care of.
The variety of sushi options are impressive. While we are regular sushi diners and have eaten at some of the best in the world, it’s rare to see the breath of sushi as we saw here. In fact we tried a few that we’d never had before (e.g. Sayori). I called in advance to check on some dietary restrictions and they were very kind to accommodate, and had prepared in advance as we discussed. The music here is a standout and the overall ambiance was perfect for an intimate sushi dinner.
One of our favorite parts was chatting with the chef and learning about his recommendations. They ended the night with a special sushi dessert on the house for my husband’s birthday!
The service was excellent, and the quality of the ingredients, as well as the interior design, were all on point. There were two chefs working at the sushi counter, and it seemed we just happened to get the trainee for our entire meal. I noticed the same knife being used across different cuts of sashimi without being cleaned, which mixed the flavors. The chef also seemed nervous and lacked confidence—understandable for someone still in training, but not ideal for a high-end restaurant.
That said, the snapper was excellent—fresh, well-prepared, and definitely the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the rolls were loosely packed, with the rice falling apart as soon as we picked them up. We ended up leaving early and trying another place instead.
I’ll give it some time and maybe come back in a year or two—hopefully, the skills and consistency will have improved by then.
The sushi was phenomenal honestly, the best I’ve had in a long time. After dinner, Bianca invited us to check out the bar and gave us a little tour of the connected restaurant next door. The vinyl music playing created such a great vibe that we decided to stay for drinks, which were excellent.
To top it all off, Bianca surprised me again with a small birthday treat that was so thoughtful and kind. The bartenders were awesome dylan and john made amazing cocktails, and we ended up having great conversations with them.
The atmosphere, the food, the people everything was perfect. Truly one of the best birthday nights I’ve had!
