If you are looking for a local restaurant spot for a good breakfast, stop by because you will not be disappointed.
The valentine dinner Saturday evening was really special!
Seriously… the French toast can’t be beat!
The service almost amazing. I walked in and was not greeted for about 5 min, I had servers look at me but had a disappointing look on their face. I asked to be seated away from the natural light windows. And the communication was not great. It took 3 attemtps before they found me an ideal table in a nearly empty restaurant.
I noticed that every table had a caraf of water on their table. It took 10 min before i could get water on my table. I ordered a coffee an it was ok 6 out of 10 it didnt taste burnt and it wasnt fresh but it wasnt old.
I ordered The Farmer, chicken fried steak, 2 eggs, hash browns and toast. The chicken fried steak with sausage gravy tasted so good..an easy 10. The sourdough toast with egg yolk a 9.5 the eggs were an 8 out out of 10 and the has browns were an easy 7.5.
I also ordered swirrled french toast. 3 slices of cinnamon swirl bread dipped and grilled with powder sugar and your choice of either blueberry or strawberry sauce with maple syrup. I was a bit disappointed on these as what came out was original french toast no cinnomon swirl and dated strawberries. A 2 out of 10.
I noticed they had cinnomon rolls and latley I have been on a cinnomon roll kick. 9 out of 10.
They are open until 2 and serve breakfast while they are open so thats a huge plus and they are under new ownership. One of the 2 partners i had a chance to meet and they are working on a new menu that will add some spanish heritage dishes to the menu. Super authentic family owned business paying respect to the former owner and many dish regular favs on the existing menu.
We had the Conestoga from the big cowboy breakfast selection and the Irish Benedict breakfast. We also ordered a cinnamon roll to go. the cinnamon roll…smashing success.
Both breakfasts were very well executed. Savory and filling, the portion to cost is nicely balanced. And the most peculiar thing is: the silverware feels really great in the hand. I mean.. what an odd thing to notice, huh?
Our orders didn’t arrive quickly, nor did it take an eternity. Hot, fresh and delicious, I’m glad they didn’t compromise quality for speed.. and it was moderately busy, so…
We’re looking forward to our next visit to try new dishes!
Update: not all silverware is created equal.. today we got the thin stamped steel variety.. still.. we are good..
