In 1953, “Tex” and Margie Taylor bought O’Kelley’s Tavern on the corner of Olympic Blvd. and Western Ave., just west of downtown Los Angeles. What began as Taylor’s Tavern, the “Biggest Little Bar in Los Angeles” soon grew to become Taylor’s Steak House, one of L.A.’s most popular eateries.
Steaks, seafood & cocktails offered in a classy, supper-club setting with a bygone vibe.

This is a Cozy steakhouse with valet parking. It was my birthday and I was here on business so I decided to treat myself to the Spencer ribeye, mashed potatoes and some broccoli. Staff was attentive, they ask that you mute your phone so the environment was friendly and the food was as you’d expect for a steakhouse with this longevity. I skipped the steak toppers, and I’m glad I did. The meat was perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful. The broccoli was fresh steamed, and I found that dipping the heads in the cheese sauce really made them shine. Fantastic meal, if I’m here for my birthday next year I’d come again!

I really wanted to like this place. It’s located right in the heart of Los Angeles and honestly, the food and the menu were good. No complaints there.
But our experience with the service was an absolute nightmare.
We were a group of five, and from the moment we arrived, our waiter was inattentive and seemed completely disorganized. He took our order in a very messy way, and during the entire meal, he barely came by to ask how things were. We just felt ignored.
The real shock came at the end when we asked for the bill. He told us they only accept cash or a physical credit card—no Apple Pay. Since we are foreigners, we don’t usually carry much cash, so we explained the situation. That’s when things got really ugly.
He threatened us multiple times, saying he would call the police and that we would go to prison. For not being able to pay a restaurant bill. Keep in mind, nowhere on the menu or at the entrance did it say that Apple Pay wasn’t accepted.
After a long and uncomfortable discussion, he suddenly demanded that we give him our ID so he could make a copy of it. We didn’t understand why that was necessary at all.
Finally, after we refused, one of the managers came over. And then she dropped the bombshell: they do accept Apple Pay. But according to her, they still needed a copy of our ID “just in case.” That’s when we flat out refused and told her that this is the only restaurant in all of Los Angeles with such a bizarre payment policy.
At that moment, we confronted them: the waiter had explicitly lied to us by saying they had no Apple Pay at all. He admitted it. He just lied.
Honestly, a very, very bad experience. I strongly advise against coming here, especially if you’re a tourist or used to paying with your phone.

Great spot for a solid steak dinner. It was cooked close to what I requested and had a nice char on the outside while staying juicy inside. The sides were decent and complemented the meal well. Service was friendly and attentive, though there was a slight wait during peak hours. Overall, a good experience and I’d definitely consider coming back again.

I ate at Taylor’s with some family friends just prior to Christmas. The restaurant was busy… the staff spent all their energy trying to turn tables. The service was quick and we felt extremely rushed. Our waiter tried taking or order almost as soon as we sat down. We stalled him a bit… and finally ordered after getting a cocktail. Our salads hit the table 5 minutes after we ordered… then ur main courses hit the table ten minutes after that… we weren’t even half way through our salads. Good classic vibe… Prices are very reasonable… but service is an appalling… I’ll never go back. Avoid at all cost for any special occasion

We live in West LA and this restaurant is in Koreatown about 6 miles from our neighborhood. My husband and I went to this restaurant for his birthday. The steak here lived up to its reputation and was the best steak I’ve had in LA. I ordered the prime rib, dry aged steak, and creamed spinach as a side dish, and it was so tender, juicy, and delicious. Parking was convenient as they have valet parking, and the service from the staff was just so-so. If you’re visiting LA, I highly recommend this restaurant.

Step back in time and enjoy an LA LEGEND! This place has survived and THRIVED since 1953. I JUST discovered it, and I’ve lived in LA since 2012. What seems like a quiet, unassuming restaurant is really a powerhouse, straight out of the set of Mad Men. The restaurant filled up quickly, and everyone wanted to sit in a booth. This place is an EXPERIENCE. Period. The surf-and-turf was heavenly, but make sure you order the mushrooms!

I had dinner with my wife on 9/13/25, 6pm. The service was outstanding, it was like a carousel of waiters coming around frequently and asking if we needed anything. They were courteous and friendly. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a wise guys movie. The prices are very good. My wife’s filet mignon was excellent! It was cooked perfectly to her request and was tender, juicy and velvety , the portion was exceptional! My ribeye “the Spencer ” was unfortunately a disappointment. It was cooked exactly to order, however it was chewy and stringy. It was a huge portion and I made it halfway through, hoping to find some tenderness, nope! My wife’s steak was so large i finished it instead and got my satisfaction from it. Definitely willing to try this place again. Strictly valet parking, its only 5 bucks or so. Overall a good spot!
