The Golden Dawn has been around for years with good reason — it’s an old school Jersey diner that still provides ‘value.” You get good food, well-prepared, excellent service, and fair prices. AND: if you’re lucky, you’ll get Karen as your server. She is a real pro and lots of fun.
On a recent visit my wife had a waffle with a fried egg while I had a breakfast wrap with fried potatoes (see photo). We both had coffee and the total bill came to . . . about $30!

The food is always consistent, the turkey club is my go to because they use fresh sliced turkey, no lunch meat here. The burgers are always good as well. Last night my husband got the quesadilla and absolutely loved it. We’ve been coming here since the diner opened many many years ago, but the reason I am doing this review today is because of the outstanding server that we had last night. This man makes dining there with kids of fun experience. We had a two year-old and a 10 year-old last night and he jokes with them laughs with them and even made them toys out of placemats. In the car on the way home the 10-year-old, who is lately pretty hard to impress, said I wanna go back there, we had the best server ever. He was absolutely right.

My partner and I visted this diner today along with our 2 children. The diner has a cozy, inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed meal. The staff was friendly and the service was fast and efficient. We were a family of 4, and spent $50.00. I would recommend this place to everyone!

From the outside of the building it was questionable weather or not I wanted to go inside, it really needs some updates. On the plus side there were a lot of cars in the parking lot and a customer going in at the same time. I asked him if he has been at the diner previously and he had said that he has and the food was good. Well he was right, the food is fresh and it was good. I will certainly go back when I’m in the area again. Please fix the building!

If you like diner food you’ll be very happy here. The atmosphere is the real winner here. A real old school New Jersey diner that hasn’t changed the interiors since the 70s. Feels like you’re stepping back in time to platform shoes and bell bottoms. Friendly staff and great service

Cant say enough great things about this place. Was just passing by and hungry and couldn’t be happier. It was delicious. The atmosphere was calm and chill and even though we finished dinner 10 mins before closing we were offered coffee. So delicious, hopefully a new place my family goes to often.

I came here all the time as a kid and moved back to the area to find that Golden Dawn is a shadow of its former self. Rush in and out. Food quality is terrible. I asked for crispy hash browns and got barely thawed slab of shredded potatoes. Somehow an omelette was watery. Sadly, the sun has set on the golden dawn and I will not be returning.

This is the 3rd time that we visited this restaurant because the food and prices were good. However, the waitresses are not responsive. You have to ask for everything once you find them. They just disappear somewhere and are do not check on the tables. Every time was the same way. It’s frustrating. We will not go back.

Been quite awhile since I’d been here and glad we checked it out again. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly and the portions were ginormous. Our waitress was wonderful, pleasant and attentive. Will be returning soon.

Family of 4. Nothing was edible except the fries. My son got a burger to be safe and couldn’t eat more then 2 bites. We ordered the appetizer sampler and one potato skins came out completely black. So they saw it on our plate like that and still served it to us. We’ll never be back.
