I had a very disappointing experience at the McDonald’s location on South Neil on March 4, 2026, regarding a mobile order pickup and the treatment I received from staff.
When I arrived to pick up my mobile order, the McDonald’s app malfunctioned and would not allow me to enter a curbside pickup number. The app then instructed me to either go inside the restaurant or proceed through the drive-thru. I first attempted to pick up my order through the drive-thru, but the employee working there told me I needed to come inside instead.
After parking and entering the restaurant, I approached the front counter where an older female employee was working and asked who I needed to speak with regarding my order. She walked to the back and spoke to someone, then returned and told me that my order was not ready yet. However, she never asked me for my order number or any identifying information about the order, so it was unclear how she could determine that my order was not ready.
I then stepped aside and waited, expecting someone to ask for my order number or assist me further. Unfortunately, no one acknowledged me. After waiting for some time, I again asked for assistance. At that point, a black female employee wearing a grey shirt and a black head wrap came to the front, looked up my order, and told me in a very rude manner that the order had been thrown away because it had been over an hour.
I explained that I had already been at the restaurant for nearly 30 minutes attempting to retrieve the order due to the issues with the app and the instructions I had been given. Instead of addressing the situation professionally, the employee argued that orders are discarded after an hour. I then asked why the mobile app states that orders are not prepared until the customer indicates they are on the way to the restaurant. The employee responded with a dismissive and irritated attitude, stating that she could not control the computer system.
Because of the tone and lack of professionalism displayed during the interaction, I asked for the corporate contact number. Only at that point did the employee offer to remake the food. However, by then I had already spent a significant amount of time attempting to resolve the issue, and I no longer felt comfortable having my food prepared after the interaction that had taken place. I declined the offer and simply requested the contact information.
The employee printed a receipt with the number, and as I was leaving she made a sarcastic remark toward me from behind the counter.
I later contacted corporate to report the incident and express my concerns regarding the lack of communication, professionalism, and customer service displayed by the staff.
Unfortunately, the response I received was dismissive and did not appear to meaningfully address the situation. (Attached email)
This experience was extremely disappointing and reflects poorly on the level of service and professionalism customers should be able to expect. I hope that improvements can be made in communication, customer service, and handling of mobile orders.

I visited the Neil and Kirby location in Champaign IL and the cashier name was James at the register at the time . I pulled into the drive through around 1:50AM wanting to place an order . Try to place my order but however James could not hear me through speaker he said . I pulled around to place my order since he said he couldn’t hear or understand me. When I proceeded to pull forward to the window to place order . He said he couldn’t ring me up at window and I must order through the speaker or must come inside . I told him I pulled around because we couldn’t understand each other and then he proceeded to tell me “ he’s use to people speaking louder then me in a regular conversation “ which has nothing to do with me wanting to place a order . Which after that he closed the window and waved me off and refused to place my order . After sitting there I did drive up to the next window to get some help and a wonderful older African American lady with locs helped me out and got my food made and order rung up with no problem after all the difficulty with him . I did not appreciate the disrespect and disregard to helping me . Customer service should be a great and pleasant experience for the consumer and I didn’t get that at this following location from James

Had a encounter with the driver thru person, couldn’t order through drive thru so I went in and explained the situation to the manager, explained how the drive thru worker refused to take my order, she quickly made things right, apologized over and over and honestly she made the experience horrible to okay. People like her deserve to be recognized for their hard work and great customer service, I will be back just because I know she’s the manager

Stopped in about 5am for a mcgriddles meal. Hash browns were perfectly hot, crisp/tender, service was super quick, they brought it out to me. It’s mc Donald’s and the perfectly engineered food was perfectly executed!

I go to this McDonalds all the time, because I live super close! They constantly get my order wrong, including tonight. Two cheeseburgers with extra diced onions….you can literally count the specs of onion. It’s like 12

I have never been disrespected going through a drive-thru, especially at a McDonald’s the way I was tonight. Due to a malfunction with the ordering intercom, The employee working the headset refused to take my order even when I kindly went over to the window to let him know that I was speaking coherently and clearly speaking into your intercom. I just wasn’t sure why he could not hear me. After him refusing to take my order. I asked to speak with the manager which he just ignored me so I sat there momentarily, after a few minutes I then pulled up to talk to Tracy, the manager and she had nothing to say besides, “She doesn’t know why he did that.” They continued to take orders right behind me, and Tracy never asked to take my order either being the manager on duty you would think she would. The kid working the headset even threatened to call the cops because he refused to open the window to talk to me and sort out the issue. I’m not sure what his issue was but I would like answers.

Normally I get stellar service here, but unfortunately that was not the case today. I ordered 3 sandwiches and all I got was a bag of fries. Mind you, I didn’t have any fries for my order. It’s also on me for not checking the to go bag before I departed, but the sticker attached to the outside of the bag did have my 3 sandwiches listed so it wasn’t an order for another customer. Make sure you check your order before you leave!

I ordered a drive thru order for pickup this morning, when I went, they said to pull to the first window. When I pulled up to the first window, the worker was very rude and said “what are you doing here?” She then proceeded to ignore me and was being very rude to whoever she was talking to in the drive thru. Finally, she gave me my receipt and I got my food. I don’t think I will come back to this location.
