I ordered the vegetble Eggs Benedict. Tomato avocado and spinach. All of the veggies were so fresh and the eggs were poached perfectly. And the hollandaise was so velvet creamy.. I asked for home fries and they were perfect crispy on the outside and fluffy soft on the inside.. oh it was my first time ever eating there and I was so impressed I had to tell everyone in the restaurant. This is definitely my new favorite. If you are hungry and looking for healthy hearty portions. Oh and the cinnamon bun. If I was recommending to someone else who has never eaten there I would suggest that you can’t leave without taking one home to go. It was the best homemade iced cinnamon bun I’ve had.

I’m from out of town and was looking for a decent place to grab some breakfast. After looking through the reviews from several restaurants in the area, I decided to give this place a try. I was NOT disappointed! The food here was delicious, great prices, friendly service and ample parking in their parking lot. The pancakes were literally the size of a dinner plate and thick! They tasted great. The fresh fruit was fantastic and not over-ripe or mushy like some places I’ve been to. The coffee was great as well. They also have lunch items but my experience is limited to the breakfast items. Overall I enjoyed my dining experience and will definitely be back the next time I’m in town. Thank you for providing good quality food with great prices and friendly service! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Best breakfast in eugene, as someone from the south it is honestly better than almost every southern breakfast place ive been. Amazing prices and huge portion sizes. You have to come here it is my #1 eugene/springfield recommendation

Pancakes: moist and flavorful, but also tough and glutinous. The syrup was basic and not real maple syrup. The butter was a fake vegetable oil butter substitute
Hash browns: crispy on outside and fluffy on inside, but unseasoned. Which I fixed myself at the table
Chicken fried steak: crispy and good. Well seasoned. The gravy is the same with the biscuits and gravy
Biscuits and gravy: the biscuits were rather obviously store bought and dry. But they were okay. The gravy was seriously lacking enough sausage and alt. More sausage would have fixed the salt and flavor issue. Overall, I didn’t mind it.
Coffee: black, mid.

I’m just here to say that I LOOOOOVE GJ’s. Best in town.
Homestyle everything. I eat breakfast here at least 2-3 times a month. I do my birthdays and family birthdays here. I absolutely love GJ’s. I love the owners and the environment they have created. The diversity they’ve hired and how they have kept the same people there forever. I’ve gone here since I was a little girl (full grown middle aged woman now) and the food is always amazing. And don’t get me wrong. Most places it’s MOSTLY about food but they got the food part down here AND everything else. It’s ALL good. My fave is French toast and chicken fried steak – but on top of all of that. I love that a husband and wife run it and employ people that stay there and they all give great service. I just love this place. It feels like home. They have super good prices as well. It blows my mind that places like the the original pancake house on west 11th who charged me about 70 dollars for two French toast meals and 2 drinks exist when they are like 3 times the price and don’t they are not even good food. Thank you for existing GJ’s!
OH, and top it off as if this place wasn’t bomb enough – they get the food out hella fast, every time.

GJ’s Family Restaurant is an absolute gem in Eugene. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that truly feels like a classic family restaurant done right. It’s cozy, comfortable, and the kind of place where you instantly feel at home.
The food is outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing, with generous portions that leave you more than satisfied. Whether you’re there for breakfast, or you can tell they take pride in every plate that comes out of the kitchen.
The service is just as impressive. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind, making sure you’re taken care of without ever feeling rushed. It’s the kind of service that keeps you coming back because they treat you like family, not just another table.
If you’re in Eugene and looking for great food, excellent service, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, GJ’s Family Restaurant is a must-visit. Easily one of the best dining experiences in town.

This place is very cozy. It’s decorated nicely and has a homey feel to it. The food was good; it was what you would expect from a diner. The portions are HUGE. The price point is perfect for the amount of food you get. I took half my burrito home, it was so filling and delicious. The biscuits are huge! The gravy was good, too. I’ll definitely be going back.

Big eats connoisseur here. I have fallen in love with gj’s restaurant simply because they have consistent food, consistent atmosphere, and they are possibly the most welcoming breakfast establishment I’ve gone to ever. My signature order being the jumbo burrito with two sides of gravy it comes with salsa and overall the breakfast leaves me happy like a kid again. I am immensely grateful for the people who keep GJ’s going. thank you!!!! I’m a bit of a shut in but I hope this lets you know a little bit of how grateful I am that you all do what you do.
