Grant Place Restaurant, that place on Washington not Grant. Established in 1994, that’s a lot of dim sum! Based in the heart of San Francisco Chinatown.

Such a friendly and inviting place! The staff were super kind and welcoming. They made sure I understood what I was ordering and even stopped me from getting too much. The duck was great.

Low prices for large portion size. Roasted duck was delicious. Not overly salted or seasoned.

If you’re looking for truly authentic Chinese rice porridge (congee / jook) in San Francisco, this place is a must-visit. The porridge is perfectly smooth and silky, slow-cooked to the right consistency — not watery, not overly thick — just the way

Traveled from Utah to SF in order to see my friend for his birthday and found this lovely place while walking around Chinatown! We found that eating here works best if you order many different things and share them, which the rotating tray in the middle makes super easy. Top dishes were definitely the beef chow mein and the fried rice, but everything was amazing! The staff were polite and helpful, and service was fast. Would recommend!

So good. Walked in randomly and was blown away by the quality of the dim sum.

Good beancurd skin roll, glutinous rice, noodles with duck, pork ribs.

Only miss was the liu sha bao which was not runny.

Not a bad dim sum spot, we came here after reading a couple of recommendations and wanted to have a bit of a bite to eat.

The pork buns were okay, a bit more on the sweeter side than I’m used to (probably a NY thing), scallion pancake was very good, and the steamed shrimp dumplings were good. General Tso more in the savory side rather than sweet and spicy-ish. Everything was very fresh.

Overall I’d probably go again cause it’s a very quiet and chill spot compared to the other parts of Chinatown and had decent prices!

We had a work anniversary event. On the recommendation of a colleague and friend, we reached out to Grant Place for our catering needs. First and foremost, they were such a pleasure to work with when it came to putting the menu together. They were kind enough to suggest what dishes would keep well throughout the evening and which dishes could be kept at room temperature and which ones needed to stay hot. That was extremely helpful to me because I wanted everything to be perfect for our guests.

They went above and beyond when it came to their service. The food was delivered on time and they were so kind and helpful, going beyond the scope of our contract to make sure that everything was indeed perfect for our event.

Our guests absolutely loved every dish! We ordered mostly dim sum, some noodles and some special dishes cooked without gluten ingredients for our gluten-free guests. The Siu Mai was the best I’d had in forever. For your next event, don’t hesitate to cater from Grant Place — your guests will love and thank you for it!

Very rude and discriminatory service towards people of color. My fiancé and I came in and placed an order. When I asked for the sizzling beef, the senior woman with the very short dark gray haircut abruptly corrected me and said, “It’s called sizzling beef.” I nervously laughed and repeated it the way she said it. She then proceeded to run her mouth, yelling across the restaurant, to another employee, while i was still ordering and had the another employee finish taking our order. Like what?????

As we were sitting down for dine-in, she stops by our table then asked how many people were dining in, and we stated said two. Shortly afterwords, she comes back, with ANOTHER white couple trying to SEAT them where we were sitting and told us to get up, we needed to take our food to go instead of having it plated like everyone else. When we asked why our food couldn’t be served the same way as the other customers, another employee with short hair brought out tiny plates and told us we could plate the food ourselves.

At that point we asked for a refund and left. The entire experience was uncomfortable and very unprofessional.

Lunch time at this restaurant, the duck is good, roast pork good. BBQ pork was a bit too thin for our liking. The fried rice was a but dry. But overall, our craving was satisfy.
