I had one of the best customer service experiences of my life at the Steak ’n Shake drive-thru, and it was all because of Erisa. She was incredibly professional, kind, and genuinely sweet — she truly made my day.

I have never in my life experienced customer service this great from a fast-food worker. Erisa went above and beyond, treated me with respect, and had such a positive attitude that it honestly stood out in a way I won’t forget.

She absolutely deserves a promotion or to be a manager if she isn’t already. We need more people like Erisa in this world — not just in customer service, but in life. I’ll definitely be coming back soon, and I plan on tipping her big because people like her deserve to be recognized.

I really appreciate her, and it’s amazing how someone you meet for just a moment can leave such a lasting impression. Steak ’n Shake is lucky to have her.

This was some of the worst service I’ve experienced at a Steak ‘n Shake.

I placed an online order, paid in full, and drove to the store to pick it up—only to be told the fry machine was down. No heads-up. No notification before I arrived. Just “we can give you chili instead.” That’s not what I ordered or paid for.

When I said we didn’t want chili and asked for a refund, I was told I couldn’t get one because the order was placed online. That makes absolutely no sense. If the restaurant can’t fulfill the order, a refund should not be an issue—online or not.

What’s frustrating is that this location has been great in the past, which makes tonight even more disappointing. The crew working tonight was disorganized, unhelpful, and offered no real solution or accountability.

If you’re going to take online orders and payments, you need to be able to either fulfill them or properly refund customers when you can’t. Simple as that

Ordered online and went to pickup. I stood at the counter for 5 or 6mins waiting for the attendee. There were 6 or 7 staff(mainly kids)laughing,yelling,talking in the kitchen area. 2 came out with bags of food for someone outside. They barely looked at me but I was expecting one of them to at least acknowledge me. They didn’t! I kept looking into the kitchen for someone to,at least say,someone will be with me in a few. After 6mins a young lady finally asked if I had been waited on. I told her No,that I had ordered online and my name. She went into the kitchen and a minute later she had my burger and fries. No one else was at the counter but me. It was absolutely unprofessional to see a costumer standing there and not address him. If there were another Steak&Shake nearby I would avoid this one at all cost.

First of all, I just want to mention that I am a retired restaurant manager of 35 years. I will leave a good review when a good review is warranted or I will leave a bad review when a bad review is deserved! Your guy working the drive-thru window at 9:15 p.m. on Monday, October 6th was very rude to me. I won’t go into details about his rudeness but after I had already placed my order he decided to be rude so I told him to just go ahead and cancel my order because I was going to go somewhere else now. I immediately pulled out of the drive-thru, after waiting several minutes to even place my order I might add and ended up going to your competitor Burger King across the street instead. It was really a shame too because I go to this Steak and Shake all the time and there’s usually a girl working the drive through who’s ALWAYS very pleasant and I’ve never had any problems until tonight. So if the guy who was working the drive through window that night ends up reading this review, I don’t know what your name is but my advice to you is that you really need to learn customer service, especially, if you’re going to work in the restaurant industry!!! I guess I’ll start going to the Steak ‘n Shake on New Halls Ferry now if you’re going to have guys like him working your drive-thru window!

Rude!!! The lady that’s the manager dosent know how to run a night shift then cusses out the customer for asking for a shake. We were there last night and ordered a shake, 5 way chili and a child’s meal. It took 40 minutes to place the order and another 20 to get to the register. When we finally made it to the window I asked for condiments and about why is the line so long when it’s 7 people playing in the background. That sparked a whole controversy. When we asked for a receipt another controversy! Another manager had to come calm the initial manager. This is unacceptable!! Please come to work and expect to work! Have some common courtesy and integrity when doing what you signed up to do. This is ridiculous

Food is great! But the service leaves much to be desired. Back in the day when you ordered something, people would read back to you what you ordered and told you the total. Now they just “Anything else?” you to death. I know working at Steak and Shake probably isn’t desirable for everyone though and that I don’t want to do it so I try to be lenient. But it’s food and I would hate to be under the impression that someone who is messing with the food I eat is not in the right state of mind or spirit. I always get the Oreo milkshake though and it’s really good. I also like the Butterburger. They’ve never messed my food up and it’s always fresh. I usually get my food “to-go”.

Great place food was out in 15-20 minutes saw a bunch of obvious addicts and stuff come in the lobby unfortunately though and harass the workers will say the workers are great they don’t deserve that even witnessed the guy come back starting more problems and the manager dealt with it amazing great food ordered shakes to go as well

I had not been to a Steak n Shake since they got rid of wait staff, so this was a new experience for me. I was greeted at the door by the owner, a very friendly gentleman, who explained the ordering system and took my order. The food came out fresh and hot, before we even finished the conversation. The restaurant dining area and bathrooms are clean. Thanks for a great supper!
