My review is slightly biased by the “untouchable” reputation this restaurant has built and the pure joy that came with just being able to eat here.

Overall the food is good. It’s not the most incredible restaurant in NYC for the price, but you will have a good meal. Loved the bacon, steak, and truffle mac. The burger was also good and I appreciate that they make it a show with the glove and egg cutting. Only thing I was meh on was the French dip but I think that’s just because it was served cold.

The ambience is great. Very institutional feeling. I like that it’s an intimate dining space, well decorated, dimly lit – you feel like you’re dining among NYC’s elite.

Service was great. Very personable staff and clearly they can recruit the best of the best.

I just wish I was on their list so I could eat here more regularly but alas. Well worth

The reservation was difficult to get but so so so worth it. The whole experience from the service to the dessert was just top notch. Although named for the prime rib, the burger was the star of the show. The thick cut bacon with the egg drizzle was spectacular. I wish I could buy the patty blend and make it at home. All starters were tasty as expected and the prime rib was very juicy and perfectly cooked. I’ll go back as soon as I can get another reservation!

First off, from the front door “bouncer” to the bus boys the staff here is all incredibly patient and kind. While waiting 10 minutes for our table no less than 15 people walked up to the door looking for a reservation and each person was treated with kindness and time.
Food can definitely get expensive because you’ll want to over order with so many delicious options on the menu. Everything was great, from the gem salad to the bone barrow. Sides I will always get Mac and cheese and fries, but my friends said the brussel sprouts were good too. 4 Charles cut of prime rib 10/10 – can’t decide if I like think or thin cut best. Tip: get the burger as an appetizer and split with your group! Overall great lux experience for a meal.

All around wonderful experience. Four of us had quite the amazing dinner. One of us waited for them to open and we luckily got a table. The staff were extraordinarily pleasant and friendly. They immediately made us feel comfortable. They helped us understand the menu and home in on our choices. All of the food was out of this world.

We started with the gem salad. Incredibly fresh, dressed perfectly with delicious avocado in the center. They then brought out the cheeseburger and the French dip sandwich. They cut the burger and sandwiches in four and we shared everything.

Our second course was the Wagyu strip steak and the 4 Charles cut prime rib. The Wagyu was absolutely extraordinary! Probably the best piece of steak ever. Prime rib was also delicious. Both were served with sauces, one Bernaise and one horseradish. We also tried the shrimp scampi, which was the best I’ve ever had. We had the cream spinach and the mac and cheese as sides. Both quite decadent.

We finished with a table full of desserts. Way too much food, but it was an important birthday and the staff were very kind. We took home the leftovers, lol.

This place is tough to get in. This place is quite expensive. But, for a special meal it’s worth it. Really a step beyond other places with similar menus. Intimate. Attentive, informative and friendly staff.

After countless years of trying to get a reservation, I finally got the chance to try 4 Charles Prime Rib and it absolutely lived up to the hype. It was 100% worth the wait. From the service to the food, everything was truly amazing. The salad, drinks, burgers, sides, and of course the King Cut Prime Rib were all outstanding. I’m honestly still drooling just thinking about everything I ate while writing this review!
I will definitely be back assuming I can snag another reservation in the future. Highly recommended.

I came at 3:30 and stood in line for around 15-20 minutes but I got a table. Everyone was so friendly and nice. I loved the host, Ian. He was such a nice person and he really tried to be accommodating to everyone. I had a great waiter as well. The burger is incredible and the Mac and cheese was phenomenal

My friends and I have been trying to get a spot for a long time, and luckily we got a reservation for lunch. We were surprised how small this restaurant was. No wonder the reservation was really hard.

We ordered the Double Wagyu Cheeseburger with bacon and egg, Cacio e Pepe Carbonara Pasta, Dry Aged Bone-In Ribeye, Smoked Salmon Caesar, Truffle Mac & Cheese, and Charred Broccoli. For dessert, we also tried the Lemon Meringue Pie. We loved the burger, macaroni, and the ribeye. Others were okay.

We would love to come back for the burger, but getting the reservation for that is not worth it. Overall, it was a good experience.

Phenomenal meal, phenomenal service!

Arrived just before 10:00am to queue for the walk-in/cancellations line and there were 3 other pairs/groups ahead of us. Maître d’ came out around 10:45am. First pair was seated as a walk-in inside, next two were looking to reserve for dinner, so at the 4-spot in line we were offered the patio table. This worked out well since it was still a fairly pleasant autumn day (sunny and a comfortable enough temperature that the food and the jus for the meats wouldn’t get cold).

Ordered 4 dishes shared between 2 diners. Started with the wagyu double cheeseburger with egg and bacon. We originally weren’t going to get the bacon because we were worried it might overpower the flavor of the beef, but Miguel, who took care of our table assured us that it wouldn’t – it didn’t. The balance of flavor was perfect with the bacon. Second course was the Prime Rib French Dip with jus and horseradish cream. The meat was again excellent and the jus rich, while the horseradish cream was surprisingly subtle but still delivered the horseradish flavor. The bread though made all the difference – whether dipped in jus or eaten without the dip it was lightly toasted but remained soft and chewy (even at the ends). Main course was the Prime Rib English cut. Again here, Miguel provided us with tremendous helpful advice. Given the two sandwiches already ordered he recommended the English cut as an appropriate amount of food to finish the protein portion of the meal. It was delicious and the thinner cut maintained all the layers of flavor while being very easy to eat (even after what we’d already eaten). We were gifted a complimentary side of the buttery mashed potatoes with roasted garlic and it went perfectly with the prime rib. Finished the meal off with the coconut cake.

For reference, one of us went with a cognac Sazerac then a red Bordeaux, the other with the house margarita then a cucumber martini. The margarita and martini were recommended by Miguel and made for a good pairing for weekend lunch drinks.

Looking forward to returning to try the rest of the menu. Next visit will definitely be for the ribeye and the various sides.

Okay- it was worth the hype! A great experience from soup to nuts. We tried just about everything on the menu and I’ll share the highlights.

We started with the Bone Marrow and honestly I’m going to be thinking about it for a while. The shrimp were also excellent.

Moving onto the reason why you’re here, the Burger? Increíble.. but you know what else is as great? The French DIP!!

Truffle Mac and cheese and the corn are a must. I know this might sound controversial but get the Broccoli, it was so good and a nice palette cleanser before dessert.

Lastly? Get the coconut cake + chamomile tea.

Bonus points: the Whiskey Sour is very nice.

From the minute I was doing the line till I paid it was such a magnificent experience. Every single detail and movement was about looking after my experience and making sure I was having a good time.
I’m still suprised of the level of personalization during my time at 4 Charles. I must say that the burger it is fantastic and I would always comeback, specially if i find a reservation which is always tricky. I arrived 1.30 hours before the opening to make sure i can get the burger
