First push cart dimsum experience I’ve had in Chicago! I feel like some of the dishes were quite good (the chive and pork bing, chicken feet) but some of them were a bit weaker (Xiao long bao was a bit weaker). Nonetheless, I feel like it was a solid dim sum experience, though you do have to be a bit firmer about turning down the food. Also tea to supplement was nice though not free. Come for some solid dimsum uptown!

The traditional dim sum cart experience on the weekends was nice but the food was a bit disappointing. All the dim sum with the exception of the siu mai had really thick wrappers and oversteamed to mushy oblivion. Char siu was dry and very sweet. Congee was bland.

Furama is one of those places I’ve passed by countless times, always thinking, *“Hmm, looks pretty nice—maybe I should stop in someday.”* Well, I finally scratched that curiosity itch, and let’s just say… I’m glad to have that box checked (and closed).

First, credit where it’s due—the service was genuinely warm and attentive. The server was accommodating and friendly, which almost made me feel bad for what was to come. Almost.

We arrived a bit before closing, so I’m not sure if that explains the underwhelming food or if that’s just the regular experience—but either way, the kitchen seemed tired, and so did the flavors.

We started with dim sum—my personal favorite. I consider myself something of a dim sum aficionado, so imagine my disappointment when what arrived barely resembled the dim sum I know and love. The spinach and shrimp combo? A hard pass (though I’ll admit, I’m no spinach enthusiast to begin with). The chicken dim sum and pot stickers weren’t much better. My biggest gripe? The meat. It all tasted strangely uniform—bland, grayish, lifeless. Like someone took the essence of “meh” and wrapped it in dough. If I had to rate the filling alone: 2/10.

Moving on, we tried the udon, which could have been decent if it weren’t *painfully* salty. Like, “did someone drop the salt shaker into the wok and say ‘eh, leave it’?” salty. The beef chow mein was the one saving grace—a solid 7/10, nothing mind-blowing but at least recognizable as a dish someone cared about.

Overall, Furama didn’t deliver the neighborhood gem I hoped for. Nice staff, attractive exterior, but the food just didn’t hit the mark. It felt more like a closing-time scramble than a crafted culinary experience. I wanted dim sum; I got dim *meh*.

Furama is a transcendant experience. The atmosphere is genuinely mind blowing. The service is impeccable, everyone is super friendly. But above all, the food is just to die for! Recommend the mango tango smoothie and egg custard rolls. Have been coming here for a while and it’s been fantastic every time!

The food quantity was great but the taste no so much. But it tasted like authentic Chinese and lived their fried rice and chicken. Overall I would say their dumplings are the best. I ordered the shrimp and chicken buns.

The biggest takeaway I had from this place is that it’s filthy. The food was pretty good, but the whole time, I couldn’t help but wonder if it was going to make me sick. The floors had that black, liquid-y stain that happens after snowfall, except it was false spring all week, so it hadn’t snowed. The chairs were stained, tabletops had leftover crumbs.

It also didn’t help that we were ignored when we showed up. We stood by the front, waiting to be seated. Staff saw us and passed us by, I guess because it was inconvenient to sit the people paying them. We sat ourselves and then waited yet again for someone to care. My friend wanted to stay, so I did, but I suggested we go to YooYee across the street, and I suggest that you do as well.

Excellent dinner with friends traditional Chinese cuisine you would expect but prepared well. Dry pot beef noodles was the standout but everything we had was tasty. Giant banquet hall size dining room. You can order by marking everything down on the menu and then things get brought out thru the evening. Very friendly staff and completely reasonable prices.

Delicious dim sum. We had buns, dumplings, vegetables, fried dough, spring rolls. The shrimp and chive dumplings were my favorite, followed by the fried dough rolls. All were good. Service was fast and friendly. Good outdoor seating for COVID situation. We were able to sit right on Broadway in the fresh air. For four people to eat lunch and leave full, it was $50. Not bad at all.

Was happy to see they offer dim sum cart service on weekends (can also order from a menu, which is great). 5 stars for the traditional carts, an extensive menu, some tasty dishes, and a nice/attentive waitress. Food items overall were a bit hit or miss. Recommend the spareribs, fried crab claw, siu mai, bbq pork bun, and sauteed pea shoots. The har gow, sticky rice, and chicken feet didn’t quite hit the mark. Parking lot with validation on site.
