Great spot to drink and eat before Devils game. Didn’t realize the long hall and back rooms for additional sitting. For a crowded place, good job on quick bar and food service. Do note that gratuity is already included at 20pct regardless of group size. I think the servers could be more explicit on this because credit receipt still has tip line (but this is default on print out). Food reasonably priced for portion size.

A must experience before a game (or other event) like no other. Redd’s serves up giant cold beers and some delicious food as well. It gets super packed for games, so arrive early and get yourself a spot. Right across from the entrance, so it’s a quick jump over to pick drop.

Reading about this place online, while on the plane to Newark, I was really excited to give it a try.

The plan was for my husband and I to have dinner and a few drinks while our son attended a concert next door.

The beer selection was great, lots of choices and varieties. The food was delicious.

The atmosphere was ok. Aside from the great play list being played by one of the bar tenders, there isn’t much else to say about it, except that there is a lot of space and they could accommodate a large amount of people.

The night we were there, it was fairly dead. Maybe a handful of people at the tables and even fewer people at the bar.

My husband and I sat at the bar and were greeted fairly quickly, but after that the service was non existent.

After getting our first round of drinks and our food, we never got the chance to order another round, except for once when my husband had to flag someone down who had walked by his empty glass multiple times.

The rest of the time the staff stood at the end of the bar conversating and seemed to forget all about us. We would have ordered at least another round or two, but finally gave up and left to try the place next door instead.

I do love that the bar staff were wearing themed shirts based on the concert that were playing next door. That was cool. The employees were also very nice, just wish they were a little more attentive.

Avoid this place if you don’t want to experience sticker shock.

Two small plastic thimble cups of vodka (to celebrate the win), that were even smaller than a shot glass, plus over $4 of automatic gratuity came out to $31 and change. And that’s even before the tip section if you want to add even more tip to the automatic gratuity. That’s over $15 for a thimble of vodka smaller than a shot. LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

Even Manhattan doesn’t have these kinds of prices.

Great place to hang out before a concert. This place can get busy. I’ve seen people meet up after work to preshow gatherings. They have a great beer selection with two bars on opposite sides. Last time I came by the bartender was cool. I usually get something small like Kartoffelpuffer. I remember not expecting much but the presentation was very fair. And from the pictures of others I should come earlier to try their other foods. Also anyone driving in, I recommend using spothero to find parking.

Had the sausage and my girl had a burger! The burger was missing the special Cajun portion to it but our friendly bartender took care of it. The beer was mighty and large and I only wish it was also volunteered in a cooled stein, but I don’t know if that’s too ridiculous of me to ask!

Place is definitely trans friendly so do not be afraid. They get doordashers who should be forced to wait out front if you ask me. They’re too awful standing near the bar, stop allowing them to do that.

Give Redd’s a visit! Ask for your order with a toothy smile and I promise they will respond in kind. 🙂

Update: idk it’s not even an event afaik but auto gratuity on a solo check I expect bc of >$50 or

Very nice and generally calm place to go and hang out with any type of group. I love coming back to this place every once in a while. Heavy inspiration from Bavarian culture. Great for social gathering and watching games. The Beer and Pretzel was nice and the prices were not too bad. The people were also very friendly and helpful in making the right decisions.

I want expecting much from this place honestly, looked like your basic sports bar. Service was very friendly but it was really loud. If you are looking for a quiet place to chat, might not be the best option. But wow, the food was SO good! Honestly probably the best bar food I’ve had in a long time. And I thought the prices were pretty reasonable for the portion sizes. We had the potato pancakes, which were nice and hot and savory. My weiner schnitzel was crispy and the veggies with it were cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The spatzle was absolutely delicious. My husband had one of the sausage meals and really enjoyed it, especially the sauerkraut which was made in house. He also loved all the NJ Devils stuff around. Would recommend for a bite before or after a game or show at NJ PAC which is a quick 10-15 minute walk away up the street.

We have been to Redd’s many times over the years before Devils games, wrestling events and concerts.
The key is to get there early and start a tab with the bartenders that way ordering later on is much quicker and easier.
We have always found the food to be very good. The prices have gone up over the years but that’s a nation wide trend.
Even when the place is packed I’ve never had food take more than 15-20 minutes from order to being ready. You order via a bartender or at the food window and they give you a buzzer. The you go back to the window and pick up your food.
The staff has always been great but of course when you have a packed bar you will be dealing with a certain degree of nonsense which will wear on the patients of even the best bartenders.
The biggest issue is the bathrooms which get a little jammed during busy times.
The street outside is closed by the police and it is always a great festive atmosphere before events.
Redd’s is safe and comfortable and being directly across from the Rock , you can’t go wrong.

Absolutely terrible. My advice: eat inside the arena its cheaper and better quality. You order the food at the window then bring it to your own table. And they still ha e the audacity to charge 20% just for taking the order. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The food could have been free and it still wouldn’t have been worth it.
