Chill cantina featuring familiar Mexican fare such as tacos & fajitas, plus a full bar & kid’s menu.

We had a great experience at La Fogata. The portions were generous, the food was fresh, and the prices were very reasonable. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. We don’t eat Mexican often when visiting the OBX, but when we do, this is definitely our go-to spot.

I don’t normally go to a Mexi can restaurant at the beach but I wanted shrimp fajitas and margarita.
WOW
What a diamond! The staff makes it.. everyone in the place was awesome and friendly.
The food was FRESH.
Not the peppers and onions made ahead but crisp and fresh.
I will continue to come here over and over again.

La Fogata Mexicana Restaurant is amazing! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and authentic. The portions are generous, and everything we’ve tried has been delicious. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. It’s one of our favorite places to eat, and we always leave happy and full. Highly recommend!

Tried the Nacho Supreme and a Michelada. Both were tasty and hit the spot. Chips were good, salsa was watery. The staff was very friendly but clearly shorthanded, likely due to ongoing labor shortages tied to current political policy issues (that’s my assumption). We had to wait 45 minutes for our food. While the meal was enjoyable, it’s worth noting that the flavors aren’t quite “authentic”, it’s more geared toward the tastes of the mostly “caucasian” beach-going crowd, that’s fine, I totally understand my demographic. However, If you’re looking for bold and/or authentic Mexican cuisine, this place may fall a bit short. But hey, this is Outer Banks not Yuma AZ or Rosarito Baja MX. For the casual beachside bite, it does the job.

Wonderful, friendly service is a strong part of the high marks here.
The atmosphere is welcoming and festive.
There’s nothing particularly innovative on the vegetarian menu, but at least it’s there, with multiple combo options, and that is greatly appreciated!
My Spanish rice and tostada were good. The cheese enchilada gets a lower score; the sauce needs a bit of work, as it was insipid, without piquancy or depth. But high marks on the adequate sauce volume provided; there’s nothing worse than a dry, under-sauced and over-cheesed enchilada, and this was definitely not that.
The complimentary chips and salsa were also greatly appreciated; too many Mexican places have started charging for this, and I find that reprehensible. The salsa had a nice spicy punch, a bit more than typical in this type of restaurant, and was great on the tostada.

Amazing amazing amazing. There isn’t much more to say. I’m from out of town and the waiter was amazing. He was helpful and the food was really good. I’ll be making anything trip there before going home!

We heard this place had good food so we wanted to try it out… we weren’t disappointed at all! The food was really good, the service was amazing, and the only reason I gave the atmosphere a 4 was because the music was terrible and extention loud.

My husband and i love Mexican food so every new town or state we visited we usually try to look for authentic Mexican restaurant and as always we usually order the same food always our favorite Carne asada with corn tortilla on the side. Their carne asada was the best on that night. We stopped by right before they close. They are the only few restaurant that we are passing by that was open that late. The food was so delish, it was so good. I was totally satisfied. There so much flavor in the meat. This is our second time here, the first time i was not impressed so i thin it was a different cook on the first time we came. Prices are not bad. We found our new fav resto in NC. Next time we visit will deff. Stop by here again.

Enjoyed our time here. Food was good and the service was excellent for the large group we had. The music was on the loud side so we struggled to talk with people across the table.

Ordered the ACP and tacos de lengua, ACP was great. The tacos weren’t cooked properly the tongue was boiled but it wasn’t grilled or seasoned. For $6 a taco you would expect it to be good
