We visited Yah Mon Restaurant for a date night, and the ambience was absolutely beautiful and romantic. The server even lit a candle at our table, which made the evening feel extra special.

The customer service was excellent! Our waiter was attentive, professional, and offered some great menu suggestions.

The food was hit or miss:
• The Brown Stew Chicken wasn’t very seasoned and lacked flavor.
• The Oxtails were tender, flavorful, and easily the best part of our meal.
• The Beef Jamaican Patty with Coco Bread was piping hot and fresh.

However, the portion sizes were small for the price. We easily spent about $150 for two people, which felt high for what we received. There’s also a mandatory 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill, so keep that in mind. Overall, we loved the service and the romantic vibe.

Please believe me when I say this restaurant is 10/10! From the ambiance to the friendly staff to the amazing food, I could not recommend this place more! The drinks were perfectly sweet and boozy. The salmon was cooked to perfection. The oxtail was season so well and fell off the bone. The wings are just perfect. Everything was so flavorful! This is the perfect spot if you’re a fan of Caribbean food.

The curry goat and the oxtail were very disappointing and the jerk chicken had good flavor but the chicken was unfortunately dry. The curry for the goat was disgusting and the sauce for the oxtail ruined the dish even though the oxtail itself was tender. For the price points here I was expecting much better quality. The best dish I had here was the beef patty which was pretty decent. The service was great, the host does well to make you feel at home and is an awesome communicator. I also enjoyed the atmosphere a lot. It’s just a shame that the food does not live up to the service and atmosphere especially at the prices you will pay here. Comparative to other restaurants in the region the dishes are very expensive. There are much better options in Tampa, do not waste your time and money here you will regret coming here.

Stopped by Yah Mon Caribbean Restaurant while I was in Tampa and it ended up being one of those places you’re glad you tried instead of another chain spot. The jerk chicken had a really good smoky flavor and the spice level was just right — flavorful without being overwhelming. The rice and peas and plantains were both excellent too, and you can tell the food is made fresh. Portions were generous and everything tasted like real home-style Caribbean cooking.

The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were friendly and welcoming. They took the time to explain a few of the dishes and made some recommendations, which I appreciated since it was my first time there. It’s the kind of place that feels authentic and unpretentious. If you’re in the Tampa area and want solid Caribbean food, Yah Mon is definitely worth checking out.

If you are allowed couple, this is not a place for you. If you’re a more quiet cozy couple you’ll fit right in the food for me. I ordered the island trio not a fan of The curry goat, but tried it. It was a little bland but tender, the oxtail or definitely fall off the bone, but the sauce was very oil base and it had no beans or vegetables and the jerk chicken is a level seven spicy out of 10and most of the things on the platter were very bland. The plantains were probably the best thing on the plate along with the little slaw salad that was on the side nasty there was one waiter in the entire restaurant and was waiting on all the people so if you like quick service, this might not be your place either And all the TVs were off
Not a place to watch sports

The food was delicious. The jerk wings as an appetizer are a must try! I enjoyed the patties and the oxtail especially. The stew chicken and curry goat were seasoned well according to my partner! The drinks were made to perfection. Ideal location, easy parking. I’m definitely coming back!

Yah Mon in downtown Tampa is a whole vibe! The food was bursting with authentic island flavor — rich, bold, and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the host made the experience unforgettable — super friendly and made sure we sampled a little of everything. You can feel the love in this Black-owned, family-run gem.

Bonus: You can rent out the venue for a fancy girls’ night, wedding party dinner, or private celebration. Yah Mon gives you everything — food, culture, and feel-good energy. I’ll definitely be back!

Amazing restaurant! Amazing service and spectacular food! I enjoyed the trio plate very very much. I also had the pleasure of enjoying the beef patties, cornbread, wings, and Sorrell. They also have really good $5 rum shots. I’d come to this place again and again!

Listen. I LOVE to support black owned business. As a business owner in the food industry I get how hard it can be to build a successful business especially with inflation on food at this time. So, I get it.

However. The prices at this establishment are insane. I am a foodie at heart so I don’t mind spending money on food IF ITS WORTH IT. It was NOT. Each plate got about 4 oxtails which were overcooked and bland. All of the sides were terrible. The coco bread was hard as a rock. The wings were the saving grace of the entire meal! It’s the only thing we finished!

We ordered 2 oxtail dinners, 2 coco breads, 2 drinks (We didn’t like either of them) wings, a side of mac and cheese (HORRIBLE), and a side of callaloo (TERRIBLE). A 20% gratiutiy was automatically added for a TAKE OUT order!!! For am INSANE total of $190!!!! Never. Ever. Again.
