They offer fresh fish (you can see it when you arrive) and three different mezze options — one of them grilled, which is perfect for anyone looking for non-fried choices. The staff was super nice and very attentive throughout our meal.
It’s a bit of a pity that smoking is allowed on terraces in Cyprus, because this one is really charming. Luckily, there’s plenty of space inside for those who prefer to avoid smoke.
We ordered the grilled fish mezze for two, which came with salad, taramasalata, hummus, tahini, pita bread, mussels, prawns, two sea bass, chips, and vegetables. We also got a squid dish, served with chips and vegetables as well. The fish quality was great, and the vegetables were so tasty — I just wish there were a bit more of them!
Good food, great service, and a very nice atmosphere overall.
Definitely a new favorite fish tavern in the Paphos area for my list
The food is nothing short of excellent. Every dish reflects the freshness of the catch and the skill of the kitchen. The grilled fish is cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and seasoned just right to let the natural flavours shine. The dishes are impressive, with each plate offering a taste of tradition, from perfectly fried calamari to delicate octopus, and dips that pair beautifully with warm bread. There is an extensive wine list that perfectly complements the dishes.
What makes Psarou stand out is the professional staff and the atmosphere. With its charming setting near the sea, you enjoy your meal to the sound of the sea and a relaxed, authentic island vibe. It strikes the perfect balance between simplicity and excellence. Service is attentive yet unpretentious—the staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what they serve. You feel that every recommendation comes from the heart.
Overall, Psarou Fish Tavern is the kind of place that lingers in your memory long after you leave. It did in mine, and that’s why I went back time and again, and I shall do so in the future. It combines exceptional food, a welcoming atmosphere, and the joy of eating by the sea.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Highly recommended!!!
The calamari portion had only 4 baby calamari and a few fries. For €20 per pertion it was really small. The salad was indeed fresh but the olive oil on our tablets had a really stale taste.
Although the service and the taste of the food was really excellent i don’t know if we will visit the place again for the portions were small and pricey.
As soon as we entered, the waiter asked us to choose seafood from the display at the entrance. My wife and I picked five prawns. I specifically asked for the price, and he clearly said, “€8 each.”
We were a bit surprised by the price, but thought maybe it was because the prawns were fresh and local — so we agreed.
When the dish arrived, we were shocked — one of the prawns was half the size of the others!
I asked the waiter why, and he impatiently replied, “We charge by the kilo. If we weighed them, it might even cost more.”
I told him that didn’t make sense because he had said “€8 per prawn” earlier, and if that’s the case, they should all be roughly the same size. He became arrogant and told me I could go to the counter and watch them weigh the prawns again if I wanted.
At that point, my daughter noticed we were arguing and became upset, so I decided to stop. But my wife and I both clearly remembered what he said when we ordered — he never mentioned anything about charging by weight. He said “per piece,” €8 each.
To us, that’s dishonest and misleading.
We also ordered swordfish, which was supposed to cost €40, but the portion that arrived was much smaller than expected — definitely not worth the price.
And it wasn’t just the pricing — the service was arrogant and cold. When I asked about one of the starters, the waiter only gave me its English name. When I said I didn’t understand, he just repeated it with an attitude, offering no explanation at all.
It’s now around 8 p.m., and the restaurant is nearly empty — only four tables are occupied, two of which are clearly people filming an advertisement. The place itself is big, but only about 30% full. Honestly, I can’t help but feel that their high online ratings are not genuine.
I’ve eaten all over Europe, including Cyprus, and rarely have I met a restaurant so rude, dishonest, and unwelcoming to foreign guests.
They don’t seem to serve clams, though.
I am not rating it 5 stars only because, for me, a 5 is an excellent service + food, and some of the dishes were not “excellent” but still good. The price is reasonable.
The only thing I wouldn’t order is the seafood risotto. It looked more like a rice pudding and had almost no seafood. The restaurant was nice and warm (in winter), and the staff was welcoming. It has a car park outside so you can drive there and not worry about the car.
