We had an absolutely great first time here tonight. Drinks were refreshing (and I am so grateful for the mojito mocktail). Food was delicious, all of it. Great meat and vegetarian options. The Caribbean bread pudding dessert was fabulous. But. But. Best part of the night? Maria and Coral. Genuinely perfect service. Kind, fun, and great recs. We can’t wait to come back and try brunch.

COME HERE!! Right as you enter, the atmosphere is elegant, colorful, and lightly. The music perfectly matches the theme and the seating was detailed and comfortable. The food was spectacular and authentic, there is something for everyone with how varied it is. Whether that is Puerto Rican, Peruvian, or Mexican food. There are multiple small plates similar to tapas and individual entree options as well. Not to mention, the service was above and beyond, the waitress Coral was super friendly, funny, and sincere. The chef, Kevin, came multiple times to check on our food and even gave amazing recommendations. Definitely a must visit and frequent, they are full of delicious ideas.

To say that Chef Ruiz is a talented chef is an understatement. I couldn’t even get pictures of the pulpo or the prawns because we ate them without a thought of a picture. Every single thing we ate from the Mexican tamal to the elite corn ribs had clearly been obsessed over and refined. I have had the pleasure of eating Chef Ruiz’s food at multiple private events before coming to his restaurant and I’m thrilled to report that this man can make anything and I would eat it. Cuya is not to be missed.

My family and I have long considered ourselves devoted fans of Chef Kevin Ruiz, so when the week finally exhaled, my husband had only one request: dinner at Cuya Cocina.

We arrived a bit ahead of schedule and were seated right away a gesture that set the tone for what would become an effortlessly warm evening. The host greeted us with genuine graciousness, and our server, Coral, navigated the room with admirable poise.
Even while balancing duties as both bartender and server, she remained attentive, thoughtful, and deeply committed to making sure we had everything we needed.

We sampled generously from the menu, from vibrant starters to beautifully executed entrées, paired with a few standout cocktails. Every dish arrived bursting with flavor, showcasing the unmistakable touch of Chef Ruiz. Families should note: the fries and “chicken nuggets” are a quiet triumph, comforting, perfectly seasoned, and a hit with little ones. Here’s hoping Chef Ruiz keeps them on the menu permanently.

The ambiance, warm and transportive, made the evening feel like a small escape, exactly what we needed. Overall, Cuya Cocina delivered a memorable experience, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit.

Amazing culinary experience! Kevin does a great job combining traditional tropical dishes with unique flavor twists. The new ‘papas ahogadas’ are exquisite. Maria provides outstanding customer service. The only drawback is the loud music that opaque any conversation. Parking can be challenging. Highly recommended

Great Latin American spot that is extremely cute for date night, girls night, or just for the bar!

Atmosphere: Vibrant, island chic vibe with Latin music playing in the background. Quaint inside seating and bar and fun island outdoor seating and bar available.

Drinks: Some of the best drinks I’ve ever had. All of them were so delicious! We had the Snowbird ‘El Pajaro’, Cuya Sangria, and classic Mojito! All made to perfection!

Food: This place is perfect for shared plates but also offers entrees! We had the Birria Empanadas (savory and delicious), Elote Corn Ribs (fun spin on the flavors here with a slight touch of heat), and Pastelon (great flavors, savory and sweet with the plantains. So worth it)!

Service: Coral was phenomenal, provided great recommendations for food and drinks and even asked what our go to’s were and provided great options based on that. She was attentive and energetic!

Will absolutely be coming back the next time I visit!

20/10 Experience – Absolutely Exceptional!

From the moment we walked in, everything about this restaurant exceeded our expectations. The ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for what turned out to be an unforgettable dining experience.

The food? Absolutely exquisite. Every dish was a masterpiece—beautifully presented, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. You can tell that each ingredient is chosen with care and every plate crafted with passion.

But what truly made the evening special was the service. The staff was beyond attentive—friendly, professional, and genuinely invested in making sure we had the best time. Their recommendations were spot-on, and their attention to detail was unmatched.

This place is a rare gem. If I could give it more than five stars, I would. Easily a 20/10. Can’t wait to come back!

What an incredible dining experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the food absolutely blew us away. We started with the seafood ceviche and the octopus—both were perfectly prepared, fresh, and full of flavor. Everyone at the table loved them!

Chef Kevin personally came out to talk to us, and he was so kind and genuine. He gave us amazing recommendations and even surprised us with an appetizer, which was such a thoughtful touch.

The entire team at the restaurant was phenomenal. It wasn’t just one server—it felt like the whole staff worked together seamlessly, each checking in to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. The customer service was next-level.

This place is a gem. Highly recommend it for anyone who appreciates top-notch food, great vibes, and truly outstanding service. We’ll definitely be back!

This place is INCREDIBLE. The only place in Raleigh I dream about right after leaving. All the food is so delicious. Chef Kevin is a master of his craft. Fancy foods to down home cooking, you get the best of both and the flavor and elegance to back up anything that is put in front of you. I suggest ordering all the appetizers. Everything is tapas style, so you get it as you order. I love that they still have full sized entrees on the menu as well. Drinks are phenomenal too, the coconut mojito is my favorite and they make it just right, with the real coconut. Absolutely delicious, the best restaurant in Raleigh hands down. I think they typically have specials of the day also. Don’t skip dessert!! We usually do because we are so full, but oh my GOD did I have the BEST bread pudding I’ve ever had in my entire life. It had a guava sauce with it and the coconut together just really sent it to the top. So, so, good. My pictures include: corn ribs, mahi filet with coconut rice, chicken with crispy shallots and mash potatoes (with an amazing sauce), bread pudding, and chargrilled oysters.

Fabulous and diverse Latin American dishes. Octopus was tender and the best preparation I have ever had including octopus in Portugal. Mexican tamale was an excellent vegetarian selection. Dishes all featured a well balanced blend of multiple flavors. Gianna is an outstanding ambassador of the restaurant, knowledgeable in all the dishes, providing delightful recommendations with a warm and friendly attitude. Cuya Cocina is a true gem!
