I’ve been here at least 15 times, and it never misses. Hands down the best Mexican food on Long Island—brunch, lunch, dinner, dessert… everything is incredible. I also hosted a party here and the staff was amazing: super attentive, fast, and they never let a glass go empty. The food they passed around was unreal, and our friends are still talking about it. Highly recommend El Sol GL for your next party or open bar—you won’t be disappointed.

Hit this place up with some friends and it was great. Everyone ordered something different so I got to try a bunch of stuff. The drinks were standard Mexican restaurant but good. I got the enchiladas and the sauce was great and the meat was very well cooked. The birria tacos had great flavor and was not greasy. I can’t forget to mention the tostones we got as appetizers because they were amazing. Finally the desert was great. We got a sampler and the best were the churros in tres leches. One of the best I have eaten. Definitely going back to this place.

I found this place on (9.9.25) without even trying to look for it. I was by the bus terminal which wasn’t far and was curious to see what this restaurant was all about. I had a few minutes before my next bus so I walked over and it was the best decision ever. As I walked inside there were a few customers sitting at the bar area and I also took a seat. The server gave me a menu and proceeded to bring some chips and salsa. Yum yum yum! Then, the bartender took my order for both food (tacos de birria, tacos de sol and tacos de camarón) and a drink (passion fruit margarita).
TACO TUESDAYS IS $3, great deal and its delicious!!!
My food order was approaching (yes of course had to take my pictures) I got very excited to try each one. When I tell you that each taco bite was out of this world, just wow!!!!!! It was hot, fresh and very tasteful. Each taco was just right! I love a taco that is full to the top and even if it gets messy!!! Oh my birria taco came with a small consume on the side which was delicious but a little too salty for me. By the way, my passion fruit margarita was so good too!
As I was still eating, I had asked the bartender how long have they been opened he had responded only three months. Wow, that’s amazing and they are in a great location too!

Second time here. First brunch. Menu was awesome & the food matched. New kids on the block, but come with a lot of experience in the kitchen. Owner knows what he’s doing. Everything was full of flavor. Presentation was on point. I had the skirt steak & eggs. I was so excited to eat that I forgot to take pictures of it. Did get a couple pics of my friend’s dishes though. All the other plates that were coming out around me looked amazing too. Did get to snap a shot of the Tres leches & churros, and also the banana pudding topped with vanilla ice cream that we had for a little dessert. Soooo goood. Place looked great, nice setting, good music. A must go!! A++++

I had the pleasure of having brunch at El Sol GL on Sunday 7/20/25 and wow this place is truly a hidden gem. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted by friendly waiter who sat us down. We were invited to this special brunch by a friend of the owner who wanted us to give our honest feedback. He also greeted us and was super friendly.
The food: I ordered the breakfast bowl because it had a little bit of everything I was craving. It was true mix of breakfast and brunch but latin style. This dish had Moro, which is essentially rice and beans cooked together with special seasonings that make the rice dark. Let me tell you, as someone who makes Moro at home, I was very impressed. The flavors were there and the rice was cooked to my liking. The Moro included a fun twist, it had pieces of tater tots which gave it a little crunch. The dish also came with skirt steak which was flavorful and cooked to perfection and finally it also had two friend eggs on top. I give this dish a 10/10.
For the drinks, they have a variety of flavored mimosas. I ordered the Hawaiian mimosa. The flavor was good but it’s def on the sweeter side. This is something that I’m sure can be adjusted.
The vibe and music: the music was good! Honestly made us wish we could dance. My sister who is huge on music and dancing was very impressed at the selection. It was trending Latin music with the perfect variation in genres.
If you’re in the area or just simply want to have some flavorful Latin food with a twist. I highly suggest you give EL SOL a try. There is plenty of parking in the meters in the block behind. Go check them out and let me know what you think!

I’ve visited El Sol GL twice now and have not had a bad meal—this spot is a gem! The food is delicious, flavorful, and truly unique. Their birria tacos are the best! I also really enjoyed the empanadas, stuffed tostones, and skirt steak—everything was cooked to perfection.
On top of that, I absolutely loved their banana flan—a must-try if you have a sweet tooth!
The service was great, and the staff made us feel welcome. Plus, the bar is big and inviting, a great place to relax and watch the game.
Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great food and a fun atmosphere!
