A story about how one of my favorite spices (cinnamon) ruined brunch on a Sunday.

I love cinnamon. In pastries, in coffee, in savory chili.i just did not expect it to hijack a savory Turkish ratatouille and dominate my entire plate.

The Good:
• For a walk-in only, a short 10 minute wait was very much appreciated
•The eggs were beautifully executed – soft, fluffy, properly folded, tender inside without being runny or rubbery. You can tell the kitchen knows what they’re doing.
• Tzatziki on eggs? Unexpected and absolutely delicious. Cool, tangy, creamy against warm eggs – amazing!
• The Arnold Palmer was perfectly balanced (not too sweet, not too tea-heavy). Clean layers, refreshing, 5/5.
• Cold water served immediately upon arrival (and properly cold). It’s such a simple touch, but always appreciated.
• Ambiance is top notch – warm, inviting, great brunch energy.
• Attentive staff throughout.

The Not-So-Good:
• The Turkish ratatouille was overwhelmingly cinnamon-forward. That was the only dominant note I could taste, and it overpowered the dish to the point where I struggled to finish it. Interestingly, the server initially mentioned they don’t add cinnamon but after checking with the kitchen, confirmed that cinnamon is indeed added. It was just far too much.
• No side plate. With oranges, sauce, and potatoes sharing space, there was nowhere to rest utensils or keep citrus from soaking into the stew. Small detail, but it matters.
• No salt and pepper on the table, so there was no way to tweak seasoning.

The frustrating part is that the technical cooking – especially the eggs – was excellent. But when one spice dominates and a few small service details are overlooked, it changes the entire experience.

Cinnamon, I still love you.

Authentic Turkish Flavors with a Cozy Vibe!
Lokma is an amazing spot in San Francisco for authentic Turkish and Mediterranean food. The ambience is warm, modern, and inviting — perfect for brunch or dinner. The dishes are beautifully presented and full of flavor — from the juicy kebabs to the freshly baked bread and delicious mezes. The service is attentive and friendly, and everything tastes fresh and homemade. Their Turkish coffee and desserts are a must-try! A perfect blend of great food, great service, and great atmosphere — highly recommended!

I’ve never seen so many headless turkeys in my life. Bless that one server that is singlehandedly carrying the entire restaurant. She must be able to deadlift 1000 lbs without breaking a sweat. I’ve never had it so difficult to grab a waiter’s attention. No one is working????

Service aside, food is comforting and simple. Nothing wild. Probably not worth the price tag.

Overall, my experience that day was horrible and I’m never coming back.

Such a cute place. The food is mediocre. Started with a high note on appetizers, the kofta was on the dry side but it had all the right spices, the zucchini dolmas tasted delicious. The grilled chicken was also dry, the mousaka was rather bland and had not enough beef. But overall the food was gorgeously plated, the place was cute and the service was great.

I went here yesterday for an anniversary dinner with my partner and we really liked it overall :)) Our waitress was extremely kind and helpful. The sevice was excellent across the board. The food was also excellent. The chicken was extremely tender and well prepared and the freshness of the ingredients really shines through. I do wish I was able to see/understand Turkish influences a bit more clearly but we really liked this place and will be coming back again.

Visited Lokma for an occasion and enjoyed every part of my meal there. We especially devoured the Manti (Turkish dumplings) served with creamy garlic yogurt and tomato butter sauce.

Street parking can be challenging in the area. Recommended for dates/smaller parties, and to book reservations ahead of time for ease with seating. They also do pickup and delivery.

This Turkish restaurant is the best. Me and my friend stopped by for breakfast and that was the best decision we made. The service was excellent, the breakfast was superb and the atmosphere was amazing. It was Saturday morning but as soon as they opened around 9:30 am the place filled up really quickly. That speaks volume. The breakfast for two is more than enough food.

Reasonable portion sizes — not too much! Grilled chicken was very tender and flavorful but the halibut dish was even better. I would recommend the dips & pita as well; baba ganoush spread was my favorite.
