Steak ‘n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word steak stood for steakburger. The term shake stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. Today, Steak ‘n Shake remains the better burger leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order.

When I walked in the door I was a bit confused as I had always just simply taking a seat and a server would come up to us quickly. However this is not how things currently operate. Myself and my buddy sit down and we quickly realized that no one was going to come and take a order, that’s when we noticed the kiosk. Disappointed in this, we got upand and went ahead and ordered.
I ordered the combo meal, which I assumed came with a drink. Nevertheless I went up to the drink counter and tried to fill a cup, which wouldn’t work because apparently you have to get a receipt that has a QR code that you have to scan for the fountain machine to start working. What absolute absurdity is this?
We waited a bit expecting our food to come out and it did not, eventually someone called our name and we had to go up to the counter and retrieve our food. Are food did not come out on a plate like it used to back in the day, it came out in a stupid plastic basket. This is not a restaurant this is a cafeteria! It’s no wonder this restaurant chain is failing, who wants to go to this place, pay too much for zero service? I’m surprised they didn’t ask us to cook our own food.
Needless to say I will never be patronizing this establishment ever again, I hope this chain of restaurants is quickly and painfully deleted from existence.
