spicy miso is sometimes vegan- check with the server. tomato broth is also vegan. Vegetarian platter is great and satisfying. server has to run around set temperature of hot pot high or low. with one person watching the whole section – it can be a lot of work.
or server was great.

Wow. First time having this kind of meal. Absolutely amazing Our server was so nice and helpful in guiding us through the Menu and in preparing our soups. 10/10!

This is my first time here and I absolutely loved my experience. The food was amazing but the customer service was even better. It was spectacular customer service with an engaging funny conversation throughout the night.

I recently had the most wonderful experience trying Japanese food! The flavors were absolutely amazing, and I was so impressed with the quality. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive throughout my meal. Plus, their drink selection was fantastic and perfectly complemented the food. I’m already looking forward to my next visit! Highly recommend this culinary adventure. #JapaneseFood #Delicious #GreatService #FoodieAdventures

First of all, the service here is very good, but as someone from California, this California Shabu is really disappointing… First, the meat was cut very thick. Second, the prime beef I paid extra for was 100% no different from the regular beef. The broccoli still had dirt on it and wasn’t fresh. The soup base had almost no flavor at all… The only good thing is that they do offer a military discount—make sure to ask about it. Overall, I don’t recommend this place. The DMV area really needs a better Shabu restaurant!

Our whole experience here was amazing. The food was super delicious, I recommend mixing the spicy miso and tonkatsu broths, the service was quick and lovely and I loved the atmosphere.

The vermicelli with tofu and shrimp paste is very delicious; the sauce doesn’t need any extra seasoning because it’s perfectly balanced.

I and my wife visited this restaurant on last Super Bowl Sunday, and while they had the game on and the server was attentive, the rest of the experience was highly disappointing. This appears to be a Thai-owned establishment attempting to serve Japanese shabu-shabu, but the quality and authenticity are severely lacking.

Broth & Authenticity Issues: The broth options are extremely limited. Initially, I wanted to try the kombu flavor which I love but it only comes as plain water with a tiny, single piece of kombu in it, according to the waitress. I wasn’t surprised why they charged all other flavors additionally except for the kombu. Obviously, I changed my mind to the other flavor of the broth, she defended this is “how Japanese people eat it.” Having previously managed in a traditional Japanese restaurant for years, I know that is absolutely not true—authentic Dashi requires proper soaking and preparation to extract umami supported by other ingredients. Then again, she was kind enough to mix the sauce for us but it was not the way we wanted to, no argument was necessary.

Poor Food Portioning: The size of each portioning of ingredients were unimaginably small,
we were glad we each had a mini bowl of rice with it. We ordered 2 options of tiny seafood and their “prime meat” + extra beef came out to over $150 including the gratuity for 2 people.

Overall freshness of the meat and seafood wasn’t too bad but the sauce was also disappointing, with very few options that lacked any real depth of flavor. Again, broth that we ordered was quite bland, the worst compared to many other hot pot places we have tried.

Hygiene Concerns: Sitting at the open bar was an only option and it exposed the food prep stations which had poor sanitary conditions. We could see dirty under counter refrigerators, bussing carts overflowing with grime, and buckets filled with dirty dishes right next to hand sinks. My wife noted there was some sort of unsettling odor was coming from where one of the under counter refrigerators was located near the meat slicer.

Equipment Maintenance: They slice the meat fresh per order which we liked but the meat slicer itself appeared as it hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time. In a professional kitchen, slicers must be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized every four hours to prevent bacterial growth like Listeria.

Overall, we came out extremely unsatisfied and feeling ripped off. So we ended up compensating our bad experience by getting Wendy’s. Most definitely, we won’t be returning to this establishment based on our experience or
we do not recommend this place for anyone to get what we had.

This place felt different than other hot pot places I’ve been to. Usually, the soup was poured for us from a big kettle, all premixed and cooked. Here, the water was brought up to temperature first, and a thick soup base was poured in. It sounds the same, but it’s an efficient system. The staff isn’t carrying a hot big kettle – just a tiny bowl of soup base. The overall layout of the restaurant is also interesting. The middle area is for the staff to walk in and out of the kitchen. Everyone sits around this walkway – it feels like a runway model show. It’s very efficient, and the attentive staff get you what you need fast!

The pork bone broth I had was quite tasty, and the other ingredients tasted better because of it. That’s the key to a good hot pot place – the flavorful soup. I also discovered I quite liked Dassai 45 sake. Whenever I’m hungry during my Microcenter visits, I’m absolutely eating here.

This place is a hidden gem. We just found it today because the other place we were going to go was closed. The food is phenomenal and super flavorful. And the experience was incredible. The photo is the end result from all the food from the hot pot.
