We were in town and decided we would like Mexican food. The parking lot was full so we assumed the place was good and decided to give it a try. It smelled great when we got in. We were greeted and led to our seating. The staff brought out chips and salsa. The salsa was super spicy. We asked our waiter if there was other less spicy salsa available and he laughed and said it wasn’t spicy and thats all they had. We ordered our food and the waiter suggested that we should get white sauce instead of the burrito sauce and laughed that we might find it too spicy. Condescending. Our food came out hot and it did have a kick to it. So the white sauce did help a lot. It seemed like this place has a lot of regulars and the owner came out and spoke to several customers. All in all this is not the place for us but this place has enough regulars who appreciate their food. We wish them continued success but we will not be returning back.

This was our first time here and everything was great. Quickly seated even on a Saturday after an Iowa State game. Food arrived quickly and everything was fresh and HOT. Chips and salsa was good, just enough kick in the salsa for me, notably a mild girl, lol. I enjoyed a Chimichanga while my friend had Fajitas. She especially enjoyed the Mexican rice. Prices were a little on the higher side and next time we’ll be sure to sample a margarita.

I love the cheese enchiladas! Most places don’t get the cheese melted on the inside. They are accommodating if you want something special. Service is always good. They have nice atmosphere. Totally recommend!!

My mother and I visited Cazador a couple of nights ago, and it was good. I believe it’s one of the oldest Mexican restaurants in Ankeny. The salsa has more chunks of tomato than some of the others I’ve had, and it’s spicier than most mild salsas I get at Mexican restaurants. I still have another favorite Mexican restaurant in Ankeny, but the Enchilada Verde was good and so was the side of rice and beans. The price was the going rate for Mexican food. The environment is what one would expect. All in all, Cazador is a great place for Mexican food.

We’ve been here twice since moving to the area, and both times the food has been amazing! The portion sizes are huge — the burritos are seriously the size of my torso. I’ve seen some people mention that it’s pricey, but with the quality and how much food you get, it’s totally worth it. We love this place!

Traveling thru Ankeny, we’re from Texas, so we ❤️ Mexican Food!! Service was great, fast & friendly. My Mexican Pizza very delicious. My husband had the Beef Taco Salad. He said the meat was very flavorful. He ate the whole thing!

Arrived at 8 pm on a Thursday evening. Despite the slow night, getting the attention of the staff for service proved challenging. The food was decent, with a highlight being the Quesobrilla Tacos, as recommended in reviews – they were enjoyable and satisfying. Portion sizes were satisfactory.

Service was good. The interior felt a little dated. I found the margaritas to be too sweet and I had to buy an extra shot of tequila to taste it (add $6). The meals were good but exceptionally over priced in my opinion $15-17 on average for a meal. It seems like all the local Mexican restaurants have upped their prices a lot but these seemed even higher than average!
We came here on recommendations from friends, but with all the choices this is not my favorite Mexican restaurant in town.

Cazador has been our favorite mexican restaurant in ankeny for years until now. Went there recently to celebrate my birthday and ordered 3 tequila shots for the group. Got the bill and was disappointed to see the extreme increase to drink prices. $12 per shot. When we asked management he shrugged his shoulders and said that’s the price while walking away. We’ll go somewhere else next time.

I ordered 2 chimichanga combo amd got home amd saw only 1 chimichanga. I did call back and the girl stated she must have hit wrong button so I only did get charged for 1 chimichanga. I clearly said what my order was so it’s not my fault she hit wrong button so would have been nice if they at least offered something for a future visit like a small discount since it was their fault. Plus I tipped on to go order that was messed up so wish hadn’t done that.
