I’ve had many excellent experiences here over the years. This last visit was still nice, with just a few disappointments.

Namely, the menus. They’ve switched from the paper placemats with the printed beer lists to a QR-code based system. Which makes sense operationally and sustainably, but it definitely has a negative impact on the “wow, look at all these beers” factor.

The food menu, also, is a lot smaller than I remember. It’s mostly just wings and sandwiches now. (Side note: the fire in the hole wing sauce is HOT. I have a high tolerance and I was sweating).

It’s still a super chill spot to grab a drink and some bar bites. I just felt a slight lack of the comforts that once made the Lizard stand out.

I hardly ever leave bad reviews but I could not help myself with this one. My wife and I just left the clam bake at the winking lizard mentor location. We always go to different locations for the clam bakes and they are always really good. Unfortunately the mentor one was one of the worst clambakes I’ve been too. The clams were Sandy. The clam chowder was watery. I ordered the ribs and they were dry and bland. The sweet potatoe was like a wet sock. By far the worst is this Mexican street corn. What a way to ruin corn on the cob. It was absolutely terrible. Just taste like hot mustard with a bunch of spices on it disgusting. Atleast are server was good and friendly. But yeah won’t be back to this location for a clam bake. And if they are doing Mexican street corn on at all locations …. DONT!

Ive never had a bad day at this place until today, I had placed a order for takeout 30 minutes prior to arriving to here, come to find out they didn’t even have my order ready. I was patient and waited for it just to it to come out and look half ass and look like a kids meal from McDonald’s. I asked for a refund the manager refused even tho I was pretty clear I didn’t want them and politely asked. It just ruined my day I just wanted some wings not kids bite chicken nuggets and a crazy wait time.

Absolutely tasty food. Nice atmosphere. Comfy and great service. Highly suggest the Lizard Freckles appetizer. We have now also had the Spinach Artichoke Dip, Cuban sandwich seasonal special, and Just Plain Fowl Sandwich, and they are unparalleled.

Food was good, service was ok. Asked the server to bring the salad out before the meal came and she brought it out with the meal. Just a pet peeve of mine
I enjoy eating my salad before my meal comes so I dont feel rushed or my food getting cold sitting there while I eat a salad. Still tipped her 20%

I sent in a private message of our experience a week ago, but received no reply. When our group was there for the last Browns game of the season, I understand it was busy. But we got there fairly early before the crowd so as I was looking over the menu & asked a question because of food allergies the server responded, I’m just a server. OK fine. I asked the manager. He was going to check but never came back to let me know. Later in the afternoon, flagged the server down for refills as she never checked on us. Her response was, I’m busy!! Well sorry, we are your paying customers too. Very bad first impression!!!

Arrr, The Winking Lizard be a lively tavern where a pirate can drop anchor for a hearty meal and good cheer! The menu be packed with tasty treasures—burgers, sandwiches, and shareable plates fit for a whole crew. The atmosphere be fun and welcoming, with a winking charm that makes ye feel right at home. The crew be friendly and quick, servin’ up meals that satisfy even the hungriest seadog. A grand spot to gather yer mates and feast after a long voyage. Five parrots out of five! — From the strangest reviewer in the seas, grinnin’ from ear to ear after a fine bounty!

I love The Winking Lizard and actually used to work here, so this visit was fueled by pure nostalgia. I came in from Texas craving my Bo-Man’s and P-Fries, and the food itself did not disappoint.

Unfortunately, the service did.

Our waitress, Kristin, Kristy, Kirsten… honestly not sure, the one with the shaved head, immediately seemed irritated. She loudly announced to the restaurant (in front of my toddler) that she was going to “go throat punch someone in the front” because another table was seated outside her section. She then disappeared for quite a while before even taking our order. We honestly debated leaving because it was clear she was off somewhere having a full-blown hissy fit.

When the food finally arrived, part of the order was wrong. The food runner fixed it after confirming the mistake was entered incorrectly. After that, our server eventually came back, then vanished again. We finally received water refills after waiting for a long time and when we were ready to pay and leave, she didn’t return.

I eventually had to go to the front desk myself to get boxes and ask for our check. She finally reappeared and said she had a 20-person table. I never saw this table, and several tables around us seemed neglected as well. Having worked here, I know the servers are responsible for taking orders, drinks, and check-ins, while the food runners, who don’t receive tips, handle delivery and basic needs. In this case, the food runner provided more service than our actual server.

Overall, the food was still solid and nostalgic as ever, but the service was extremely disappointing. One bad server won’t stop me from loving The Winking Lizard but this experience was definitely a letdown.

For years, we usually order takeout on Sundays for 7 people, so we’ve had experiences with missing items from orders. I naturally check our order before leaving anyway–cause I *hate* calling about missing items and have even more having to go back out for things forgotten.

I arrive to the hostess stand to pick up the order. When McKenna asks for the name, I give it to her, and she begins reading off the order, item by item. When she finishes, she immediately says, “you have 3 bags, so let’s go through them to make sure you have everything.” Its almost exactly what I do, but I usually get an eye roll, deep sigh, or some version of “everything is there” when I ask to check and make sure I dont have to come back. (Side note that, even when picking up, I have never tipped less than $5/order, and usually tip 10-15%–I worked in service and like to show appreciation)

McKenna was pleasant, nice and wanted to make sure I got everything. Also, EVERYONE said the food was awesome. We’ve eaten at most Winking Lizards in NEOhio, and this one is absolutely the best in terms of food and service.

We came here to hang out with friends and watch the Browns game. We had heard good things about this location, and our hopes were high. It was a disappointment to see that there were not a lot of screens to watch the game on. Our server was only so-so, and even crabby at one point. Yes, the restaurant was busy, but that’s no reason to be short with the customers. It was disheartening to see that there wasn’t many options for gluten free appetizers, so I opted to skip that. My husband’s onion rings were rather greasy, but otherwise okay. Our main meals were fair, but nothing outstanding and could have been warmer. All-in-all I would have to say that I wouldn’t be in a hurry to go back.
