Stopped here on our way home from Ely for some lunch. My husband got the mango habanero crispy chicken sandwich with chips. Chicken was very good, we would say it was mild heat. We also got chicken tenders and fries. We really liked the fries and would recommend switching out the chips for fries. All the fried food is fried in beef tallow which is awesome. Both meals come with pickles on the side so ask for without if you don’t like them. The vibes were great, it was very cozy and warm and they had old train maps on the walls. They were also playing wonderful music (Caamp and Gregory Alan Isakov). We will be coming back someday when we take another road trip!

Neat place in a small town!
Another recommendation from a friend brought me here for dinner.
Started with an Old Fashioned. Very well poured drink!
Next up was a side salad with their house-made blue cheese dressing. Fresh vegetables, nice assortment of stuff but the dressing stole the show. Thick, chunky, kinda funky and really good!
Went with the Walleye burger for dinner. I may never get back to the place and their signature dish sounds better than fish fry (hard to believe, right?). Sandwich was bigger than I expected and really tasty. Walleye has a lighter flavor so the aioli did overpower it a little. Wild rice is always welcome on my plate but I’ve never had it mixed in to a burger. Overall the patty was well-formed and really delicious. I was dubious at first but it really worked.
I would absolutely hit these guys up for dinner again.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I got the nachos which were good. The Streetcar Old Fashioned was unfortunately very bad. The St. Paul Bourbon they use tastes like it was born yesterday, and while the presentation was nice, a dried orange slice doesn’t give you the nice hint of citrus that an Old Fashioned really needs. I’m sure I could ask for a higher quality whiskey and orange peel next time, and it would be much better. The nachos plus one drink got me close to 40 bucks with tip, so it’s not the best value.

We’ve been here twice now and it just keeps getting better.
The first time we had a mushroom swiss and fries, and the walleye wild rice burger and the brussel sprouts…both were amazing and the reason we went back.
The second time, we had the special, which was Ribs, a potato, and coleslaw, and our other meal was the Lucy Burger, and handmade chips and their pineapple coleslaw coleslaw.
Everything was once again amazing, and even though they were incredibly busy, service was good and the food came in a reasonable amount of time.
If you get the chance, try them out, it’s worth it!!!

So, we had a really great experience the first time we went to Streetcar. We loved our food and had a great experience. Unfortunately, the second time we went, our food really sucked. The cook left my walleye strips in the deep fryer so long that they were hard as a rock. We knocked them on the table to demonstrate to the waitress how hard they were. They were harder than my knuckles. Really was disappointing that the dish was $20 and cooked so poorly. The waitress was really nice and offered us a $10 gift card for the crappy food. I just don’t understand how you can see such overcooked food and send it out anyway. In my line of work, if I see something that is not up to standards, I would rather waste time, materials, and money to make it right rather than presenting it to a customer. Probably won’t be visiting Streetcar for a while. The total visit was close to $100 and I was left thoroughly disappointed. As a Cloquet resident, we don’t have many options. I thought we found a winner with Streetcar, but was mistaken.

I wanted to like it. I brought my daughter here for lunch. We were able to find a seat shortly (it is seat yourself). It took about 10 minutes before anyone talked to us. Things seemed to go well at first. Our waitress checked in with us a couple of times in the beginning and it stopped after we ordered food. When we first arrived it was a little busy. After we placed our order, our service seemed to stop. We ordered a gyro with sweet potato fries and nachos with brisket. Despite business dying down to only a few customers, it took nearly an hour to get our food and it was noy even hot when it arrived. The gyro was barely warm and it was soggy. The gyro itself was not good for flavor and the sweet potato fries were mushy/soggy and lukewarm when I picked them up they bent and flopped. They were also wet. The dish itself was so gross that we decided to put it to the side to be thrown out. The nachos were very good however there was close to no brisket, maybe the equivalent of 3 bites sliced. I also ordered 1 seltzer. The portion of the nachos was very large. Our total came to $50 and it was NOT worth it. We were ignored by the staff the whole time. My cup was empty and nobody checked in on us at all. I eventually made eye contact with the bartender and she came over. I asked for the check and she saw the whole meal sitting on the table and asked us if we wanted a box. I explained our issues with the food and showed her the limp fries. She asked me if I wanted them to remake it, but I declined as we didn’t want to wait another hour and have bad service. The bartender was very kind and apologetic which is why I gave the 2nd star for service where I would have put a single star with the overall experience we had. We will not be returning.

Server was prompt and brought beverages quickly and got answers about if the fries were battered as I am gluten intolerant , and helpfull selecting our meals
I Selected the grilled chicken sandwich without a bun and chips
My Wife had the chicken and cheese quesodilla with the battered fries
Our food was brought out in under fifteen minutes . Thank you for the availability of gluten free options
My chicken breast fillet was seasoned with salt and pepper and was tender and juicy the tomato slice was thick and fresh lettuce was crisp and the chips were warm . Tasty meal The chicken quesodilla was nicely done , fries were generous and crispy like my wife likes them
The dilla was loaded with chicken and cheese but lacked any seasoning
The salsa was watery and tasteless , little to no onions no lime juice , oregano, green onions , chopped green chilies , cilantro , cumin , the cheapest jarred salsa from Aldis is better
The restrooms were clean and well lit , decor was interesting , beer selections are nice choice of regional brews , and the collection of retired tap handles was a nice touch . The beer engine is unique and a nice detail.
Being a retired janitor , my eyes wandered around , and my observations are that your house needs a good cleaning as a lot of things above reach , like the sign over the servers station need cleaning as it was very dusty
The toe boards around the bar need scrubbing because they have dirt from mopping . Invest in the 3 – M Doodle Bug scrubber and handle and a box of green pads available from Dalco janitor supply and some swiffer type long handle dusters , and make sure that the floor mop is rinsed out after use and hung up, not left in the mop pail, and mop pail is rinsed out after use

I ordered the Bluesy Lucy burger. It was outstanding. I love blue cheese. There was cheddar melted inside and blue cheese crumbles on top. The meat was high quality and it was hot and juicy. I tried the blueberry mule drink while i was waiting. So gingery and tasty. I was so impressed.

We decided that we needed an afternoon snack after hiking at Jay Cooke State Park. Streetcar Kitchen was the perfect spot.
We picked the Walleye Basket and French Fries with a side order of Pineapple Slaw.
Everything was served up hot and fresh. Our server Alyssa made us feel so welcomed. Always a warm smile and friendly service. She was the best.
If we lived in the area, we most certainly would become regular customers.
Perhaps we can squeeze in one more meal before we leave town.
