Food was really good, I ordered online and service was really slow. I had to wait 10 minutes after my arrival before a buffet style salad bowl was ready and I watched them there was 2 employees eating in the inside. And they made an order for someone to pick up just before mine and still took 10 min more for my order.

We have been to many many different Cafe Rios because we love it. This restaurant was an incredible experience. The portions were great- sized, employees were top-notch, and restaurant clean and in great condition. My kids kept saying we have to come back here. I want to work here when I’m older. Thank CR for a delicious, welcoming experience.

First time ever going to Cafe Rio and I don’t think I’ll ever come back. It was $19 for an inhaled burrito and I think a medium drink. Anyway soon as I sat down my burrito completely fell apart. The chicken was super dry and $19. It should be a lot better. I will never be coming back half area ever again. Customer service is good though. So good job guys!

I brought my family here for lunch and wondered why this Cafe Rio had lower review scores than others, but it was convenient to come here. Our burritos were good, and the service at the counter was mediocre.
The issues I had was paying $7 for a tiny cup of elotes & chips, especially since the chops were rancid and soggy, definitely from the night before. I complained about them to the manager who was helpful in swapping out last nights chips to some that were at least fried today.
Then we went to the dining room to sit and eat, where we were greeted by a squished cockroach in the dining area. I thought the kitchen looked clean at first glance through the line, but as I was leaving I looked closer, under their serving stations, and they are nasty underneath. I won’t be returning to this location.

Night time staff is always amazing. Amazing both shifts actually ! My food was so delicious and the taste was so very yummy! I come to this location about 5 times a month! Can’t get enough of the juices and food

We went today for the meal for 20 dollars. I then got told “tacos aren’t allowed”, which makes no sense because the last 3 times and 3 different locations, I was allowed to get tacos. Nowhere does it say tacos is not allowed. We paid 45 dollars for 4 things when it should have been 20 dollars. the two girls that helped us on 2/15/26 at 2:00 pm, the ones who told us were so rude and not helpful at all. This is just ridiculous, if tacos are not allowed why are other locations allowing us to do it? even if it was a misunderstanding the two girls had no right to treat paying customers like that. Will never come back to this location again.

Food was good. Terrible service from staff, very rude and hostile. They shouldn’t be yelling at customers like that or playing aggressive music with swear words over their Bluetooth speakers. Simply won’t be eating at Cafe Rio anytime soon. Chipotle is cheaper, tastes worse, but at least the employees there don’t yell at customers. Very terrible dining experience.

We’ve had the occasion of patronizing other Café Rio Fresh Modern Mexican restos since moving here a decade ago with above satisfactory or very good outcomes. Very reasonably priced, great tasting Southwest-Mexican cookery. This was our first visit to the Rural Road, Tempe location. Unfortunately, I think it may be our last! This experience, I’m sorry to say, may have been a one-off and I hope not indicative of the overall picture. My wife and I were in the mood, specifically, for Café Rio since we’ve not had them in a while. We chose to order from the Rural at Baseline location, as it was on my way home. We were looking forward to my Two Enchilada Entrée with beef barbacoa and another of chicken with cilantro lime rice, fajita vegies, salsa roja and their fab red/black beans. But, when I arrived to pick up my order they told me they were out of corn tortillas so could not make the enchiladas! They ran out of corn tortillas? How does a Mexican resto run out of corn tortillas. Although they replaced my order with the alternative flour tortilla burros, needless to say neither my Wife nor I were very happy. No corn tortillas just left us with an unpleasant (pardon the pun) taste in our mouths! Nuff’ said.

One star is being generous! So, I could already tell The Gentlemen preparing my food, did not wanna be there whatsoever. Anyways, I shrugged it off because a lot of people were like that now it’s like inconvenient to do their job. Anyways, I got everything got to register And asked how much the queso was that was put on top of my burrito bowl. I was informed at that point there was ranch. I said my mistake. I am sorry, but I can’t eat that.. There’s more to this story but the short version Remade and I got less than half of where I originally got. This is after I even tipped him so an almost $18 meal and this is was less than a third of a container. You know, I work really hard And I have two almost full-time jobs. Going to chipotle was supposed to be a treat for myself a reward. And top it off every single table except for two had food all over them! I wish I could post a picture of what eating at a Third World country looks like when they don’t have health inspectors ! I looked forward to it and when I’m on my way to go there. This is by far the worst experience I’ve had in a long In considering how people act nowadays, us a lot! I wish I could post pictures. That’s pretty crazy. Google doesn’t allow that if I could, nobody would ever eat there again that actually reads these. If I were an owner, I would refund my money and be more hands-on. I could not imagine on your business and this going on sad!
