Truly family friendly, awesome find restaurant! There were options for whatever you’re hungry for – salads, pasta, sandwiches, burgers, ribs and more. Kids pizza was really good thin crust. Aunt Karen turkey sandwich was really delicious and the Govs Ribs plate was falling off the bones before we could even cut them. If you don’t want rib stuff on your fries, you could ask for them on the side as they’re plated on top of the fries. Mark was our server and he was so fun with the kids and telling us stories about the history of Governor Stumpy. The First Lady (women) bathroom is really pretty 🙂 Chris, one of the granddaughters of Governor Stumpy, was such a gem giving us recommendations around town for the rest of our trip. We will definitely be back here next time we’re in town, highly recommended!

Our waitress was so welcoming and friendly. She talked enough to keep us laughing but wasn’t overbearing or pushy. The decor and atmosphere just had a real down to earth vibe with no snooty workers or customers. The food arrived fast and hot. The fries were crispy and seasoned well and my Reuben wasn’t bad. I just wish the corned beef could have been more like sliced fresh from a huge piece of meat rather than just deli style prepackaged stuff. My husband enjoyed the Alfredo but just be aware that it was very straight forward and not a lot of seasoning. I found it bland but he said he just wanted a simple noodle dish without a lot of hoopla.

We visited June 19, 2025. Our party of four all enjoyed our food, and the service was good. The only complaint is that the dining area smells of cooking food, which is an indication of poor ventilation in the kitchen. We don’t like going home with our hair and clothing filled with the odors of everything on the menu. That said, it’s a sound dining choice in the area for casual, good food.

Lovely local neighborhood restaurant with a family feel to it. Great food and friendly service. Their rattlesnake pasta and pork chop dishes are really delicious, but all of their food is worth trying. Good selection of local beers, too!

Excellent food. The burgers are amazing. Bbq chicken and mashed potatoes were so good but pistachio cake and the chocolate cake are to die for. Seriously. I live 30 min away and I’d definitely come back just for the cake! And it’s all reasonably priced too!

Pretty awesome place. Very laid back. Our server was patient and awesome. Bar staff, not quite as much but I guess we only saw them in passing anyway.
They have vegetarian options and a few dishes that are their specialty.

Good atmosphere. Very friendly employees. Booth & table seating as well as bar seating. Tvs for watching sports. Enclosed outdoor seating area. Nice little downtown are location. Plenty of parking.

Our first time here and it won’t be our last. Derek was amazing and so attentive to all of our needs. He went into great detail quickly explaining the menu and so glad we listened to his suggestions; especially the pistachio cake is was so moist and delicous. The drinks were just OK nothing too tasty but they were cheap. One of the best cheeseburgers we’ve had in a long time. The fish was also good so get it Cajun style. Try this place just ignore the noisy bartender and simple decor. The food and service is amazing and worth the stop!

Our first dinner at Governor Stumpy’s did not disappoint. First off, I think we were greeted by at least 4 employees. They were all so friendly. Our waiter went through the entire menu and gave us his recommendations; which was very helpful. I ordered the St. Louis style cheese pizza. The pizza was good, but not exactly what I thought it would be. It did have the cracker thin crust, but I was expecting Provel cheese and square cuts. The salad was solid. I’m looking forward to going back and trying other options – the Waldo cheese fries are the top of my list! As we left, I think at least 3 employees said bye and thanked us for stopping in. The customer service is exceptional.
