We walked over from a nearby beer festival—no reservation. We entered, approached the host stand, and they mentioned there were open seats available on the lower level. But we were hoping to sit upstairs, and they simply said, “Head on up.” We found a high-top table with a great view overlooking downtown Woodstock. Our server quickly came by to provide some menus. We reviewed the drink options —I went with the Creature Comforts Tropicana, while Wifey opted for a refreshing strawberry spritzer. For starters, we ordered Queso Con Todo, and a round of chips that arrived nice and hot. The queso was definitely not your standard dip. It had a generous helping of shredded chicken mixed in. It looked a little greasy at first glance, but it didn’t taste that way at all—smooth, flavorful, and very good. For mains, Wifey ordered the chicken taquitos served with rice and charro beans, and I went with a grilled chicken breast, paired with black beans and rice. Everything we tasted was on the make. A solid experience overall. Great food, laid-back atmosphere, and that view of downtown just tied it all together.
The service was friendly & attentive, and the setting was great. I love the overlook of the train tracks.
I order tacos almost every opportunity I can, and I noticed the corn tortillas were somewhat chewy, the meat didn’t have much crisp. I was a bit disappointed given the price of eating out. The plantains were a tasty offering. Their tres leches cake was very rich and I do recommend their dessert & marg.
Overall, the atmosphere will keep me coming back again someday.
We sat upstairs, which was a great choice on a beautiful day—the view overlooking downtown added a nice touch to the overall vibe. The atmosphere was vibrant, and the service was quick and friendly.
One thing to note: the chips and dip aren’t complimentary, and there’s an extra charge for additional sauces beyond the two that come with your plate. Still, the quality of the food and experience made it well worth it. I’ll definitely be back!
Upon entering we were thrown off a bit by the country music and choice in decor, but the Tacos Sonora and Carne Asada tacos were great. Our server, albeit quiet / soft toned, did a great job and made sure she we were taken care of several times.
We are excited to visit Pure Taqueria again and try more menu items.
