Also, do not go to this bar if you dont want the bouncer to isolate members of your group!
I was separated from my friends upon entry at this bar when we were looking for the last round of the night. That itself may be forgiven if the bouncer felt like not separating me was a liability for the business (although im not sure what bar would want to split up parties as a way to keep business).
What I think is most disingenuous is the fact that they kick everyone out at 1:40 am even though they claim to close at 2. Presumably they would make last call at around 1:30 and then let people hang around their establishment until the posted closing time. Instead, everyone in the bar was kicked out at 1:40. If everyone needs to be out by 1:40, their closing time should be listed as 1:40
So, not only did the staff try to isolate members from my friend group (who we wanted to look after but couldn’t without staying on the street), but they also decided to kick everyone out almost 30 minutes early.
Frankly I’ve never encountered an Irish pub that showed such lack of regard for their customers safety, along with false advertising (closing almost 30 minutes early, especially during the holidays). It almost seems like they’re too comfortable with being (allegedly) the last bar to close nearby, that they think they can take their patrons for granted.
Its a shame because ive heard good things about their Rasputin stout in particular, and I’m sure their other drinks are good, but unless if this is the type of bar you want to go to leave one of your homies on the curb, and get involuntarily shut out almost 30 mins before the posted closing time, I’d suggest getting your stout elsewhere.
However, when I tried to explain this, the security at the door suddenly yelled at me. He shouted “It’s required by the law!” in a very aggressive and intimidating way. It completely caught me off guard. I’ve been feeling anxious ever since.
I fully understand and respect the law, but there is absolutely no reason to yell at someone. The way he handled the situation was unprofessional and unnecessarily harsh. I hope the management provides proper training so staff can enforce rules with basic respect for people.
