Delicious delicious delicious. I’m so glad we decided to dine here on our trip. The food was phenomenal. I don’t think there is a bad thing on the menu. The tortellini and the lasagna were so good. The fish was fresh and so yummy. The polenta bread with the chili butter was so good and the mortadella was delish as well.

I went there earlier when it first opened and they had their fresh pasta market. But I recently came back for my birthday and was pleasantly surprised on how everything tasted. Definitely get each of the polenta bread as the appetizers are small portion sizes. I had the ravioli pasta dish and it was only like 8 pieces which was disappointing of a portion size. Food was however delicious. They also do not do complimentary dessert.

My best friend and I have been frequenting Rolos since we watched that one video about how their lasagna is made. It’s been a special treat when we can manage to get a table (one that’s well worth the wait).

The staff here is truly incredible. A lot of restaurants in the city can be condescending and rude, but the entire staff at Rolos is beyond kind and accommodating.

If you’re able to snag a res, which we were today, you’re in for a real treat. When I put in the res notes that this would be our last dinner together given my leaving NYC, the staff made it truly special!

Standout dishes: chili polenta bread, cheeseburger, skirt steak, and of course, the lasagna!

While we went back and forth about where to have our “last supper” as our server called it, we knew Rolo’s was the only right choice. The food is always consistent, outstanding, and a memorable experience.

I couldn’t have imagined a better way to close out my NY days. Thank you so much to the Rolos staff for such a considerate, caring, and extraordinary experience.

I highly highly recommend the leafy greens and herb salad, calabrian chili wood fired polenta bread combined with the house made mortadella, two sheet lasagna, and lastly, the littleneck clam pasta. I personally loved the crispy potatoes “war style” but do think the pungent lemongrass dip can be polarizing.
The fluke crudo was so unfresh that it made me lose my usually robust appetite (and taste-wise was very disappointing compared to other crudos), but the server was hospitable and took it off the cheque. The pork t-bone was tasty but not as remarkable as the other dishes.
Rolo’s is very ingredient-forward and works with flavors in a unique way.

Minus the fluke crudo, 5/5 dining experience.

Made reservations walked in and was pleasantly surprised..this is a busy establishment reservations are recommended..Natalie who was our waitress was an absolute doll. So informative with a wealth of knowledge about the food. The food hands down was a ten out of ten. We ordered the crispy potatoes for the table, yum and yum. A second order was made immediately don’t judge. I ordered the eggs with the polenta bread sooo good.my friend ordered the French toast which was to die for..need I say more. The food is very filling and so very delicious.

For a relatively small brunch menu, I was impressed by the diversity of dishes – from more traditional brunch items to some Asian-inspired touches, it serves a wide palette and consistently delivered. The cocktails were also amazing! I loved the espresso martini (surprisingly heavy on the espresso, but not in a bad way) and the carrot drink (tasted like a health juice, also not in a bad way). Definitely deserves the hype and will be back to try other food + drink items.

My first time here, I got the burger after hearing the hype. The waiter made it a point to mention that it was still available (because they’ll run out later in the day) and asked if we wanted to reserve one. I was thinking it would be the best thing on the menu but it really was just okay. I’m glad I tried it, but I kind of regretted getting it. It also made me suspicious of all the other things on the menu that I didn’t get to try.

I went back recently to give some other things a try and I’m really really happy I did. Everything hit this time. The polenta bread, the lasagna, the leafy green salad, and maggie’s little pumpkin. I’d give them all 5 Stars.

If you save room for dessert, get the brown butter apple tart. You won’t regret it.

In terms of service and atmosphere, they were great both times. Super friendly and very ridgewood, so you can come and expect to feel at home.

The food was really good, and the lasagna was definitely my favorite and honestly one of the best I’ve ever had with smoky taste. The burger was also great. The steak, though was just okay, so I probably wouldn’t get the steak again but the pasta and the house made bread with the dip were amazing. We walked in right at opening time and luckily got a table.

The house dry-aged steak was really good, like one of the top five steaks I have had. Side dishes were a bit too salty for me, especially the greens. Calabrian chili butter polenta bread was also delicious.
Strawberry almond tart was just okay. Service was excellent. Casual ambiance. I would go back.

Unique takes on classic dishes, more hits than misses, amazing service and vibes.

I have been to Rolos many times. On my most recent visit was reminded why I come back so much.

On this visit I enjoyed the one sheet lasagna, the pickled carrots, the chili bread, the short rib pasta, the passion fruit crème caramel, the lime coconut sorbet and the apple tart.

The one sheet lasagna is almost always incredible. It is rich and decadent. There is a sweetness from the tomato sauce, a salty umami from the meat inside said sauce, a creaminess from a béchamel, and a tang from high quality Parmesan. I have had many of my guests doubt this dish but after trying it they usually call it one of the best lasagnas they have ever tried. The only note is that it has a char on top which either perfectly compliments the flavor or completely overpowers it. If it is too charred it can begin to taste like the bottom of an oven.

The pickled carrots and chili bread were great. The carrots offered a fresh citrus pallet cleanser with notes of orange. The chili bread is warm and comforting with a slight richness from the light toppings.

The short rib pasta was new for me on this visit. I would not order it again. Although the short rib was flavorful, there was way too little for the amount of pasta. Additionally the sauce was watery and creamy at the same time. Like a broth with a few tablespoons of cream. As someone who is lactose intolerant I have to consider if a dish is worth upsetting my stomach to enjoy, this dish did not pass that test.

The desserts are always strong. Our bartender peach (more on her in a second) recommended the lime coconut sorbet. This is the best sorbet I have ever had. It is incredibly rich from the coconut cream and had a light zing from the lime that tastes like summer even in the dead of winter.

The passion fruit crème caramel is creamy and tart with a brûlée flavor from the caramel, I always enjoy this.

The baked apple tart is densely packed apples within a pastry crust. The crust is lighter than a pie but the tart is served by the slice with a side of whipped cream. I like to pair this with a sorbet for peak experience. Sometimes it can be served on the colder side but this time is was gently warm from the kitchen and ended the meal perfectly.

I have had pretty much everything on the menu so let me just note that the war style potatoes are not for me. The horseradish sauce on top is overwhelming for the palette and can really stop a meal while you try to get the flavor out of your mouth. I have had these once and will not be ordering them again.

If you get there early enough they have limited availability of their burger. It is great so if it is available, order it. However, dont only go for the burger. You will miss out on everything else that really makes Rolos special.

Our service was provided by the lovely bartender Peach. Peach is calm, charismatic and professional (a rare and powerful combo in NYC). She kindly offered us recommendations during our meal on what to order and how best to enjoy dishes that really improved our experience even as revisiting customers. My brother adores the whiskey sours a Rolos and Peach delivered during this visit of course. As a bartender myself, I really enjoyed Peach’s candid conversation about drinks, dishes, and life. Peach is a fantastic bartender! Of course she knows how to make drinks of impeccable quality but she also understands that hospitality extends beyond serving drinks. Peach made us feel warmly welcome and I would honestly prefer to enjoy my meal at the bar because I know if I had any questions or concerns, Peach would handle them with grace. We enjoyed our dining with Peach so much we ordered an extra round of drinks just to lengthen our meal a bit. That’s how a good bartender should make you feel, like you want to stay a little longer and definitely makes you want to come back.
