I visited at night before a redeye flight, and the service was terribly slow even though it was far from their closing time. Beyond the wait, the staff seemed completely disinterested. No greeting, no eye contact, and a generally cold attitude that made me feel like an inconvenience rather than a customer. It felt like they were just going through the motions, which only made the long wait feel even worse.
The prices are also shockingly expensive for onigiri, even by airport standards. Some might argue it’s due to premium ingredients, but my Beef Sukiyaki Onigiri was sloppily put together, especially compared to the beautiful presentation you see at other shops. It felt like a waste of good ingredients and the taste was pretty average. Honestly, I’ve had better onigiri from a konbini at a fraction of the price.
I also tried the Soba-meshi (a limited-time item), which was disappointing. The whole thing was too soggy, and it fell apart into a rice puddle almost immediately. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to use utensils, but that kind of defeats the purpose of an onigiri. To make matters worse, the beef tasted funky and stale, which was really off-putting.
Another downside is the seating, or lack thereof. There is no dedicated seating at the stall. You have to carry your food to a public common dining area, and it’s a total gamble whether you’ll find a spot. Luck really comes into play as it’s often crowded with other travelers.
All in all, not worth the price or the hassle. It’s a pity since this is often the last meal people have before flying out of Osaka. It’s a poor representation of a city known for such magnificent food.
Looking for something quick and satisfying, I decided to try the rice ball. It turned out to be a great choice. I ordered the BBQ beef rice ball, while my friend went for the grilled chicken. Both options were surprisingly generous in portion size. It is much bigger than we expected for a quick bite.
Low quality beef without much taste other than the sauce.. especially after we visited Kobe and had wonderful Kobe steaks during this trip. Having said that, you don’t have many choices at T1
Had Atsuage Tofu Cutlet with Homemade Miso (item #8, ¥700) for breakfast, was good! Service was prompt & friendly. It’s located near Gate 19. I’ll be back to try their other items on the menu. They’re a few standing table to consume your food right in front of the outlet.
