I stopped in for a late lunch on December 18th after a very, very bad day. The place was big — bustling with Christmas gatherings — and had a great “neighborhood bar” vibe. I sat at the bar and ordered the cod on marble rye with coleslaw. It was delicious. The cod fillet was generous and nicely breaded. It was crunchy and cooked to perfection. The coleslaw was obviously prepared in house. It was also great.
I jokingly asked the lady tending bar if she was Jim or Jack, and she replied that Jim was her last name. I’m not sure if she was joking, but it made me laugh. She was very busy but attentive. I left feeling a lot better than when I went in.
I really like this place, and would go back in a minute if I didn’t live in Houston. It’s just a couple miles down the road from the Anderson Ferry, so if you’re flying or driving into Cincy from northern Kentucky, take the ferry and stop at Jim and Jack’s for lunch. You won’t be disappointed. Please tell Mrs. Jim I said hi.

Came with friends for a night out. First time visiting. From what we understood it was their busiest night since the pandemic started. House was full. Masks were a thought of the past. Line dancing was entertaining and band played many country songs and was entertaining. We had 7 in our group. Of our orders one was not correct. He ordered a big fish sandwich and they brought him the little one. To make up for it they brought him out another small. Might have ended up with more but not what he ordered and was disappointed. My order was not brought out when everyone else’s was. I waited another hour for them to bring me a personal pizza. Not sure who our waitress was because someone different was always checking on us and I told at least three people I was missing my meal. Honestly up to receiving our food we were having a great time and talking about when we could return again with additional friends. Once the food fiasco happened, we are likely never to return. We understand the place was packed and they were overwhelmed. Servers were nice, but there was no offer to comp our food or give us a discount. Everyone in our group was done eating before I got my food. Greatly disappointed in the end.

What a fun stop. Lots of locals and regulars. Place is pretty big, lots of parking. Hard to miss. Not right on the water, it’s across the street. A good, chill vibe. Prices very reasonable. Staff was super friendly and the locals were fun to chat with. Would go again.

My husband and I visited Jim and Jack’s for the first time last night. We stopped in for dinner and also to check out their party room. My husband ordered the codfather and he said it was good. I ordered the Italian sausage and it was delicious! I needed to eat it with a knife and fork but it was one of the best I have had anywhere in town. The party room is very nice. The servers and hostess were friendly. On a Sunday night this place attracts an older crowd. Most came in for the live band. We did not stay for the music so cannot comment on that.

Jim & Jack’s on the River – A True Gem Since the Early ‘90s

I’ve been walking through those doors since the early 1990s and I can honestly say this place feels like home. Great food, cold beer, live entertainment, and (most importantly to me) some of the best country dancing in the area – Jim & Jack’s has it all, and they’ve never lost what made them special.

The food is flat-out outstanding. I’ve probably worked my way through the entire menu over the last 30+ years and I have never once had a single complaint. The pizza is thin-crust perfection – loaded with cheese and toppings that actually taste fresh. The wings? To die for. Crispy, saucy, and meaty every single time. Their burgers (especially that monster double bacon cheeseburger) are legendary, the onion rings are hand-battered, and even the simple bar apps are done right. Consistency like this is rare.

The entertainment keeps us coming back just as much as the food. Danny Frazier tears the place up every month with Curly and the Cue Balls – always a packed dance floor and a guaranteed good time. Mike Davis and the other regulars on stage never disappoint either. Whether it’s a live band or just the jukebox, the vibe is always fun, friendly, and very country.

What really sets Jim & Jack’s apart, though, is the people. Ennes Jim runs the place like family – because that’s exactly what their customers are to them. They’re always circulating, checking on tables, cracking jokes, and making sure everyone feels welcome. You don’t just get served here; you get greeted with a genuine smile and treated like you matter.

If you want ice-cold beer, killer bar food, live music, and a wooden dance floor that sees boots every weekend, this is your spot. It’s not fancy, it’s not trendy – it’s real. Thirty-plus years later, Jim & Jack’s is still one of my absolute favorite places on earth. Keep doing what you’re doing, guys. See you on the dance floor!

I’ve been here several times and it’s always wonderful! We typically go as a lunch group and the food and service is always fabulous. I’ve been on a night when they had live music and it was standing room only! Today I was there for a celebration of life after and it was catered divinely. Everything about Jim and Jack’s is always perfect I highly recommend trying them and if you’re meeting a group or seeing a band you’ll definitely want to make a reservation because they can fill up fast!
