The food was okay at best, the price did not match the quantity or quality of the food. The host didnt know the ounce amount of how much one would get if you ordered something like lemonade or milk, which I guess is fine? But maybe she shoulda showed the cups for reference cause I wouldn’t have ordered them if I knew how little you were getting in reality.
All around 2/5 service otherwise was pretty decent they were nice people

I ordered 1 pan of beans and 1 pan of rice for a dinner. I was quoted $150 for both. I sent my son to pick it up and pay with my card. I was charged $346.70 with a “customer fee” of $10.40. I went to the restaurant to get some answers. The Asst Mgr was little help although she said she noticed the price earlier and thought it strange. She started the run around on me. She said the real Mgr will be in the next morning. I went the next day and talked to the Mgr. He was no help and simply shrugged his shoulders. He said I should talk to the owner “Antonio”. He should be in Monday. Well, I’m tired of wasting my gas so I’m reporting this restaurant to the Better Business Bureau. As stated by law, restaurants must list their menu prices. I was told by the Mgr they do not have to for special orders. This means they can charge whatever they want. I did a cost comparison of nearby Mexican food restaurants. Las Tapitias charges $31.99 per pan of beans and rice. The Aztlan charges $35 per pan of the same. This was based on to feed 40 people. Both restaurants were shocked that Cozy was charging so much. I was overcharged by $196.70. I’m a 70-year old disabled woman on a fixed income and I feel like I was taken advantaged of. As of today, no one from Cozy has called me to off some type of solution.

I’ve been a loyal customer at Cozy Diner for over a decade, often eating here weekly. It used to have great food, excellent service, and a true hometown feel. Since the new owner took over, the quality has gone downhill—food is often cold, corners are clearly being cut, and many great staff members are gone.

Today was the last straw. We ordered huevos rancheros and chicken fried steak and eggs. The food arrived in under five minutes. The huevos rancheros had hot eggs and sides, but the meat was lukewarm. The chicken fried steak was cold and raw inside, with hot gravy poured over it, and the bacon was rubbery and clearly reheated.

The waitress agreed the food was raw and apologized, but when she spoke to the owner, he said to only take half off the bill and completely dismissed us.

After 10+ years as a customer, that level of food quality and disrespect is unacceptable. There are many better places in now in Chico, and I won’t be returning.

Our experience at this diner location was a positive one. The biggest positive surprise was the fact that they serve Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice, which made it the first of several breakfast and restaurant places in Chico. My companion been asking for it for quite some time, and Cozy Diner had gone the extra mile and purchased the machine in plain sight. Not many patrons at 2 PM, but we were treated cordially and service was efficient at the able hands of our server, Imelda? Food requested:
Veggie Crepes, $13.39? Three crepes with in store made potatoes. One of the ingredients was Spinach, which was the lesser amount, with the most broccoli and tomatoes, etc. Turns out, after conversing with Charles, one of the managers, that is permissible to request more of the spinach, per say, and problem solved! Good looking plate with fresh avocado 4 Stars.
Ham, 3 over medium eggs, and hash browns, almost $14? Including a very nice and thick Rye Bread lightly toasted. Must right here and now say that our server was not joking when she said the ham was a big one, because it is. All items accounted for, and for ham enthusiasts it certainly delivered, at the very least on size. Sizable dish and filling. 4 Stars.
Orange Juice Large, $4.95. What can one say about freshly squeezed orange juice, if only for the novelty of it, 5 Stars.
This one beats the big D, in that is slightly better and priced. We also bought 2 bread puddings $2.75 each?
Mondays 2 for 1 free range fried chicken with a couple of drinks. Fridays all one can eat Fried Fish (Swai?), which I am curious to find out if they make a good one.
Overall nice experience, 4 Stars.

Nice Clam Chowder on Fridays compared to several other establishments, better than most. 2 Bowls with warm cornbread, $12+ plus gratuity for a job well done.
5/24/2024 Today the fish, in fish and chips had declined in serious fashion. Salad with blue cheese a tremendous insipid no no. Service nice, which only proved the valid point that quality in the restaurant industry is truly elusive. Good one day, so so next, disappointing with zero warnings. 3 Stars.
4/4/2025 Charles excels at running the place. From the moment we arrived to departure he keeps moving about with determination, and very possibly a proud Marine? as he shows all the good traits the finest do. Food, yes, has its hiccups but never enough to condemn permanently. Service as of late, at least 6 months or more, borders on exemplary, above average. Considerate, well mannered, extremely pleasant personalities or we been lucky to be served by the best. Seniors score what is probably a very enticing set of choices under the Senior Menu. Let’s just say it delivers in general. Kids also benefit from value options. Patrons in general seemed satisfied in Cozy as attendance is not dismal, meaning no action, sad. I understand they been around since the 1960’s which attest to their well deserved place in the community of this great place called Chico. Grievances: Clam Chowder (Friday’s only) where are the clams? Are they still swimming in the ocean?
Let’s leave it at that as the staff is polite and accommodating I’m sure. A great manager directs a place like a fine tuned orchestra, and here in Cozy, now displaying modern black outfits as seen in very nice places, Cozy seems to make its own kind of music. 4.5 Stars.

Great family diner, great food at good prices. They always have daily specials going on and I appreciate how the whole staff works as a unit to provide the best service. No one there is to proud to step in and help with other staff members jobs. I love seeing that type of team work. And if you walk in hungry your food doesn’t take long to come out. This place just rocks.

ROACHES! ROACHES! ROACHES! My cousin was in town so I thought I would take her out to breakfast. We walk it. We get sat at the very first booth next to the front door. Staff was initially friendly. We received our food. As we started to eat my cousin looked at me and pointed to a roach that was on the back of the bench crawling towards my shoulder. I jump up. Look down and there are several more. They seemed to be coming from a tear in the seat cushion. Staff came by I stated there way roaches. One gentleman used a towel to wipe away the initial roaches walking around on the bench. Then more came out of the whole so he ended up sticking the towel in the whole to prevent more from coming out. The waitress came up and said she didn’t see anything. The guy who wiped away the first couple said “it’s fine.” We didn’t eat our food and wanted to leave. We were presented a bill. I paid the bill and left. I won’t ever eat here again. Stay clear of this place.

I really enjoyed having a breakfast brunch here. Not too expensive and you get enough food to eat. Service people were very attentitive and cheerful. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the pie selection. Lol

Great prices, quality of food is great as well. We entered the restaurant with over 15 people and it didn’t stop our server from taking care of us, and doing it with a smile, at least I assume she is smiling under the face mask. The chaos of our family is always something of a stress point for any server, and our server was on top of her game.

I would recommend the French toast no matter what, it was a cinnamon roll bread!! All I can say is YUM!

The special where you get country fried steak, eggs, sausage link, bacon, hash browns, and option of toast, Belgian waffle, pancake, french toast, or my favorite a biscuit and gravy. Gravy is not super salty so I added some cause I’m a salty fella. All of that breakfast for $13.99!!!!

Recommend this place for sure, if you have large parties they have a spot in the back fao you can be open to speaking with family without worrying about loudness.
