(yes I took a few bites before I realized the toppings didn’t slide to the bottom, they just weren’t there). This place used to be amazing. Ever since they doubled their prices, and reduced their employee pay from $15 per hour down to minimum wage despite the price increase and economy struggle, this place has gone to shit. Work ethic is garbage, they’ve become insanely stingy with their toppings. Paying $8 for a banana split should get me more than four little strawberries, and they never put cherries on their Sundays anymore. In this economy, it sucks worrying if I’m going to just waste money here. $8 is a lot now, it feels like $8 is more expensive now than it was 5 years ago. Greed is a killer, I hope another custard shop opens in town that we can take our business to, until then, I’m done with custard. Also: their email is pointless, they lie to you and give you an email to “make it right!!!” just to give you a place to complain to with no response. I tried contacting them some months back about an issue, no response for weeks. I called the main location in Cruces and they gave me attitude telling me to “just wait and they’ll get back to you”. This was almost a year ago, I never got a response. They don’t care about us as customers, or their employees, and it shows.

Staff is usually incompetent but the food/custard/shakes are great. Pretty expensive but pretty worth it.

When this opened years ago, I thought wow, finally a custard shop. Desserts were delicious, bowls and cups were full and tummies were happy! Now in 2026, times have changed, you sit forever in line waiting, you are handed an unfilled item, half full, Which is practically thrown at you. Do better Alamogordo. This poor thing was supposed to be a large ( now they say one size) mint de caliche, mixed. $10.00 half full, no whipped cream, not mixed as asked with maybe one measuring cup worth of custard, and there are so many pecans and so little ice cream, you can’t even mix it together. As for the Oreo cookies, maybe Walmart will have those too!!!!!!! Do better!!

Lots of flavors to choose from. I tried googling and it seems like its a NM chain frozen custard place. There is also a poochie cone for your fur babies. Staffs were nice. Lots of parking.

Oh, this place is amazing! I loved their ice cream, and everything on the menu looks delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back — this will be my go-to spot every time I’m in town.

I can’t believe it. I have NEVER been to a more expensive custard or ice cream place in the 70 years of my life. I got a large (16 oz.) Custard for $9.00 my grandson got a small for $7.00…Mine was not even full to the widest part of the cup. Help was great and that’s it. You can see in the photo where the top wide part is clean where it stopped.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Everything tastes fresh and delicious. I’ve tried their Very Berry Sundae and their Strawberry Cheesecake Caliche (similar to Dairy Queen’s Blizzards) and they are addicting! They are definitely not stingy with the mixings, all the items my family and I have tried have plenty of fruit, cake bits, etc. They have a very decent menu to choose from so you are bound to find something to satisfy that sweet tooth. They even have a Green Chile Sundae! They also have seasonal flavors/items.

They also have a small selection of sandwiches and a various hot dog selections. My favorite is the chili cheese dog but my family has enjoyed all the others on the menu, good hot dogs.

They have a drive thru, plenty of parking and two picnic tables outside. The staff has always been super friendly and attentive.

Caliches has become a frequent family stop for us whenever we find ourselves in Alamo. If you’re looking for a delicious frozen treat this place is a must.

We stopped here after going to White Sands NP and it was such a good decision! Very awesome ice cream. They have what’s called a Caliche which is sort of like a milk shake with toppings in it. They were fantastic! I had the Adobe Mud. We also tasted some of the green chili sundae and it was surprisingly pretty good! They don’t have tables to sit at but they do have benches. There is no “inside” you just order at a window and either take it to go or sit outside. Highly recommend them! They do also have food – we didn’t get any though.
