We visited on a Monday night for traditional dining. The Teppanyaki is very popular but we wanted something more traditional. When you call for reservations, be sure to indicate whether you want traditional or teppanyaki. Although it was a Monday night, I was told that only 5:30 and 7:00 were available. When I asked about traditional dining, all times were available. A gentle suggestion to the restaurant is to ask what dining is preferred before discussing available reservation times. My dining companion and I ordered the same thing, the Tempura Dinner. The vegetable and shrimp tempura came with soup, two salads, and rice (steamed or fried). The dinner came with sashimi but we were allowed to substitute a half order of sushi. We ordered the special California roll or cucumber, avocado, and snow crab. It was a lot of food! Our server was a delight. She explained that the restaurant buys sashimi frozen but uncut. The chef thaws the sashimi, cuts it, then refrigerates it. It is not refrozen. Yoshino has been around for decades. The shopping center is old and worn as is the restaurant. But the cuisine at Yoshino is authentic and fresh. Highly recommend the traditional dining.

We stopped into Yoshino for some light sushi lunch and were not disappointed. The fish was fresh and tasty and the cucumber rolls were tasty as well. Our server was attentive and friendly. We will be back.

The sushi chefs and servers are so nice!! The food is amazing. I really love eating here and it is definitely one of my favorite spots to go for sushi in Fresno, CA! Highly recommend going to eat here! The Godzilla is definitely a go to sushi roll!!

An excellent place to enjoy delightful sushi. With very attentive service and chefs who prepare the rolls right in front of you, it’s a very pleasant experience. Something I find great is the freshness of their wassabi, with a powerful spicy flavor that enriches the flavors of the sushi. The flavor is something special, in my opinion; their fish is very fresh. The rice is also an experience, with a light and pleasant flavor. In my opinion, the place is exceptional for a formal family dinner.

This is pretty hard for me because this is one of my favorite places to eat. However my last experience was horrible. My husband and I were seated and didn’t get our orders of water!! For like 15-20 min ,not to mention we received our soup and salad after the chef completed cooking our meal. Not sure what was going on that day but I’ve been eating there for years now. I won’t be returning for teppanyaki there for a good while, it may even be even be for good. That’s how bad our service was at Yoshino restaurant!! Disappointed!!!!

Have always loved them…..”BUT”…..
One of my all-time favorite restaurants over the last 30 years! Food & service are generally excellent. But today we had a minor disappointment that eventually turned major. We dropped $261 on the meal + $50 tip for the chef + $50 tip for the server….So you’d hope for their typical excellence, right? BUT….We ordered four calamari steaks from the kitchen ($15 per plate)….And it was the smallest portion I’ve ever seen – well below their standard (e.g. at least 1/3 less than normal). I mentioned it as the chef was cooking – no reaction from him. I mentioned it to Zack (server)….He was apologetic….But nothing else. I eventually called the owner/manager….She said: “Did you already pay?” When we said yes….She said that the problem could have been with the employee in the kitchen….She said “sorry”….And that was it. Wow! She made it seem like she agreed the portion was too small and she WOULD have taken something off the bill…But we already paid – and therefore – she was content with us paying full price?
Wait for the IRONY: She’s the one that brought the calamari from the kitchen – all 4 plates! So she would have seen the serving size! Later she agreed that it was too little….And did nothing except say “Sorry…Happy Birthday.” (Yes…it was my birthday). So what does all of this tell me??? Yoshino’s doesn’t care or they’re hurting for $$$. One of my favorite restaurants for 30 years does not care. That’s sad….Folks: There are other places where you can drop $350 for lunch for the family….And they go out of their way to show they appreciate you….(Recommendations: Tsing Tao Chinese Food (Clovis), Colton’s (Clovis), Lime Lite (Fresno), Elbow Room (Fresno)….Or…If you’re feeling cheap? In and Out Burger ALWAYS treats you well….And Colorado Grill is also excellent. Today’s experience was tough….After the $$$$ thousands we have spent there over 30 years. Peace out!

Went recently for my aunt’s birthday and went regularly as a kid. Super high quality service, and a superior dining experience to most places.
Would recommend for a large group to enjoy the live cooking, birthdays, and celebrations. Not particularly suited for small children, due to the loud noises and open flames near the diners.
Reasonable prices.
