We had the fish and chips and the bread bowl chowder. The chowder was really good and quite filling. The fish and chips were fine but not great. I wish they deep friend the fish a little longer as it wasn’t as crispy and airy as I’d like. Overall, good spot to go to at Rockaway beach.

Authentic local seafood. Owner Sandy gave us some samples of homemade gumbo before we ordered. The fish & chips were really good as was the clam chowder. First timers may have a hard time finding this place at night when it’s dark and rainy due to its narrow corridor access off Hwy. 101. A real down home mom and pop operation.

I had such a welcoming experience when I visited last week. It was my first time eating here and both of the employees did such a great job sharing specialties, explaining my options, and giving me a sample of their homemade crab dip. Absolutely the best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten, their rockfish is so flavorful with such a perfect amount of light breading on the outside.

I also had a cup of their chowder which was so think and full of potatoes and clam I could almost eat it with a fork!

This will be my new favorite stop in Rockaway!

Fantastic fish and chips each order made fresh. The chef made my deep fried Cod with a cornmeal crust that he threw together from scratch because the regular batter had egg whites in it and I’m allergic to eggs. It was fabulous!

While it was hard to find, I loved the location of this place. It’s tucked into an area that could never be purposely built these days because of permits and regulations, so the atmosphere has an unforgettable uniqueness to it that you won’t find elsewhere. I thought the servers were really friendly and the overall service was quick. I had fried halibut and thought the food itself was pretty basic, but maybe I just ordered the wrong thing! It wasn’t bad tasting though, don’t get me wrong.

$70 for two people, no drinks. Clam chowder was pretty good. Halibut fish and chips was good as well. Coleslaw had a fiber or hair in it (see pic) and was flavorless sadly. The CrabMelt had way too much cheese on it. See pictures before and after. About 1/4 of the cheese would probably be perfect. Same crust and seasoning just way less cheese. Btw do not bring your own water bottle, apparently they will ask you to leave the premises…

This was an unexpected find for me and my wife. We arrived less than an hour before they closed, and the service was still great. The owners were kind enough to give samples and suggestions since we didn’t know what to order.

My wife loved the chowder, but I loved everything that we ordered.

I’ll definitely stop by again in the future.

I’m a Rockaway Beach local as of a year and a half ago, but this was actually the first time I dined here. I was always wanting to, I was just simply too broke until recently lol! Ordered the cod fish n chips, after asking the staff which items were fresh vs previously frozen, and I could tell they were being honest, especially after informing them I’m a professional cook so they can’t get away with lying to me simple and fresh indeed! I’m super picky about tartar sauce, don’t like it most of the time, but theirs is far better than standard, and yes they make it from scratch. They also aptly named their most “regular customer” stray cat “Smokey”, who always helps to clean up fries and chowder spills on the patio this place has been in business for something like 120 years, it’s a gem and an honor to the local heritage

Ordered their fish and chips. Unfortunately the food was inedible. The fries were too salty and the fish was weird. The coleslaw tasted ancient. Threw it away

Though the chowder claims to be the best, I can think of two better locations within the Tillamook county for sure, for chowder. Service was prompt but not exactly friendly. There was an air of attitude that was unwelcome. I attributed it up to it being a fish house rather than a restaurant. And we ordered up sat down and enjoyed. The The chicken was excellent. The fried cod was very good almost as good as New England. The french fries left a LOT to be desired. The chowder certainly is not the best in the county, possibly not the best in town. The man running the fryer certainly did a good job cooking fish, choice of potatoes for the fries was pedestrian, not worth writing home about, service was… Meh.
Reminded me of the roadside fish shacks from Beverly Farms North past Rockport in Massachusetts though without the true charm. This was more of a parody of those gems of roadside dining. Prices here were a tad high; okay they were a lot high.
Not sure I would return.
Ok, I’m sure I am not returning, there’s just better choices. Too bad, cuz the atmosphere is very New England roadside fish fry shack, service is decidedly not, and could have made the price worth the shortfall.
Turns out we returned. The chowder still is not the best but this time there were ladies behind the counter. Food very much the same but they at least were pleasant.
Side note it was the end of the day and they were up to their ears in unsold chowder. Hmm.
