Great place in Redding to have a great burger, fries and a shake. My bother and I went in and asked for extre mustard on our burgers and this nice lady she looked new, We haven’t seen her before she brought our food out and gave us a cup of extra mustard just in case there wasn’t enough on our burgers. We were so surprised that she even thought of that. We went back in and she had taken our order this time. She was very polite and read back our order. We hope she sticks around. 🙂

Ordered three burgers today, one medium rare, one medium well and one kids, each with fries and one shake to share.
It was ready to go quickly, but what is haste with no taste?
The burgers were so underdone, the medium rare was still cold. I them on the grill at home to get them to the minimum safe temperature. Then we realized how tasteless they were. No seasoning at all. The fries either.
And the end result? Food poisoning for my whole family. Will never eat here again. Too bad, too. It used to be so good.

I lived in Redding for almost 24 years and decided today was the day to finally try Bartel’s Giant Burger. The fries were above excellent, the cheeseburger was juicy, and the bacon was nice and crispy. Two nice ladies in there holding the fort down. My only complaint was that the seating was kinda small. As a fat man I usually need extra room. Next time I come back I’m trying a milkshake.

A number of weeks ago, myself and a group of about 40 others decided to come here on a whim. We had heard that it was good, and we were nearby. As you can imagine, 40 people showing up at once asking for food is quite a shock! The staff was excellent to us, acting quickly and kindly. The food was delicious as well. This is the kind of burger you tell others about when they ask “does anyone know where to get a good burger?” Bartels took care of us and fed us well! Thank you!

Fantastic old-fashioned burger joint with amazing service! The burgers and the meat are gigantic you’re not gonna go home hungry. Great choice of sides, including tater tots and jalapeño poppers. The price is pretty affordable. You won’t be disappointed.

Good old fashioned hamburger place that’s been around for a long time. I was really impressed by how good the freshly ground beef patty tasted. That Juicy, well cooked, and delicious fresh & beefy steak taste in every bite, very very bueno. All the other items on that cheeseburger I ordered made it taste even better. One of the best hamburgers in Northern California.

Extremely disappointed in the service tonight.
My kid was leaving target so i called to place an order for him to pick up.
The phone line was busy for about 5 minutes, so once i finally got through, the dude working IMMEDIATELY put me on hold, he did not click the hold button so i could hear everything inside going on, i decided to text my child and let him know to just drive over there and i would have the order placed for him. Once he pulled into the parking lot, he let me know, and unfortunately i was STILL on hold, (while no customers were in the restaurant) so while still on hold my kid went inside to THEN place our order while i heard it all word for word over the off the hook business phone since apparently dude working only puts people on hold and wont take a call in order.
Makes sense as to why your guys phone is always “busy”

I’m visiting California from Texas, and I would say the price for the amount of food provided is a bit high; and if you want to add extras, like bacon or cheese, you will pay for it. However, these burgers and ingredients are fresh and everything is cooked to order. So depending in how much you value fresh food, it might be worth it. I ordered the Regular Burger meal and added bacon and American cheese and paid close to $12. The meal did come with fries and a drink.
The fries were fresh, and perfectly salted. I’m a huge fan of perfectly salted fries, and I can honestly say that they know what they are doing.
The gentlemen behind the counter seemed to be doing almost everything from taking orders, cooking meals, cleaning/clearing tables, and walking the food to the customers. I was very impressed by him. He was also kind and attentive.
The restaurant building itself is rather small, with limited seating during the busiest hours. There are roughly 6 places to sit at the counter, 4 two-person booths inside, and 3 large 6-8 people tables outside at the front of the building. So if you’re not taking to-go, you might want to plan around busy hours. Otherwise, you can bunk up on an outside table with others!
All in all, I have a co-worker that will be here next week that I will be bringing here for an old-fashioned burger. So I would absolutely recommend this place.

Food was very good! Fast service, and it had the old fashioned vibe I was looking for. The fries on their own aren’t anything special, but with the sauce it goes together really really well. The burger was also really good, although the onion in the burger can be a bit over powering so if you don’t like too much onion it’d be best to ask for less or none. Overall had a great experience and a great meal
