Bindaas was definitely an interesting experience. At first, our server came off a bit distant—not particularly warm or friendly. But as the meal went on, he seemed to ease up and became noticeably more approachable.
I’ll admit, I had some preconceived notions going in. When I heard we were headed to an Indian restaurant, I expected strong, lingering aromas and was honestly a little worried about my clothes and hair absorbing the scent. To my surprise, that wasn’t an issue at all, which made it much easier to relax and enjoy the time with my colleagues.
As for the food—it was fantastic. Everyone at the table ordered something different, and not a single dish disappointed. The presentation was colorful and vibrant, and the flavors were bold without being overwhelming. I’d absolutely come back again!

We stopped by for Dinner. We were seated pretty quickly without waiting. We ordered Mango Pani Puri, Mysore Masala Dosa & Vada Pav.
Mango Pani Puri was interesting, I wouldn’t necessarily try again. Dosa was decent, the accompaniments were just okay. Vada Pav was good & filling.

What a lovely find. This north Indian restaurant located in Foggy Bottom was a welcome treat after a hot afternoon on the golf course. Please forgive me in advance for not knowing the names of these items, but my descriptions should be helpful. The starters were an A+ we had roasted sweet potatoes (pictured) that were topped with tamarind sauce pomegranates and mint chutney. Enough for 2 people. We loved it so much we ordered it twice. We also had the vacation packages, which is a potatoes patty, similarly seasoned but spicier. My only negative was the portion size was 1 patty vs. 2. I ordered a tamarind honey clove drink, refreshing, but not sweet. For our entrees, we had the pan friend sea bass (pictured). It was a bit bland. However, the curry salmon (pictured) was very flavorful! My partner can’t do dairy, and he couldn’t eat any. We had the in-house made pomegranate sorbet for dessert, and it was very good. Not tart and surprisingly sweet. My only suggestion would be to add additional seafood items (there were only the two options that we ate as entrees and I think a shrimp dish that they were out of) as well as more options that don’t use cow milk. Otherwise, we enjoyed our meal, save the same bass which was a B-. If add more items without milk, there were very few, we would retuen.

The Samosas are hot and fresh – you get three. If you only get one appetizer though, make it the Cheesy Tikka Fries. They are special to behold across your plate. Don’t be fooled by the Chicken Biryani picture – it is a giant serving and delicious at that. The Chicken Tikka Masala comes as mild and we asked to spice it up a little and they obliged. Finally, off of the brunch menu, the Lamb Masala Burger was just fantastic. They got the seasoning just right. bindaas is definitely worth a stop in for delicious Indian food.
Update August 2025:
The Cheesy Tikka Fries are still a must. The Lamb Kathi Roll was flavorful and hot but definitely needs the chutney. The Chicken Tikka Masala is excellent as always and the Punjabi Samosas are fantastic.

Service
We stopped by Bindaas for a quick lunch and were promptly seated. The service was efficient, with our orders taken and served without delay.
Taste
We ordered two dishes, both of which were absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and authentic without being overwhelmingly spicy, making them enjoyable for all palates.
Ambiance
The decor and atmosphere at Bindaas are stunning, with an authentic vibe that immediately transported me back to my time in India. It’s a beautiful setting for any meal.
Recommendation
If you’re in the mood for flavorful Indian cuisine in a charming and authentic environment, Bindaas is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be returning to explore more of the menu!

The meal I got was pretty tasty, and the atmosphere seemed pleasant while I waited for my takeout- however, when I specifically ordered the paneer roll without chicken, making sure it was the vegetarian option at the register, I found out later when I left with my takeout that what they handed to me was a chicken roll. I needed a vegetarian dish for that day due to a religious holiday though I was still able to eat it later, however it could have been a more serious issue if I was allergic or it was absolutely not part of my diet. So, if you have serious dietary restrictions, I would be careful. For me, it was just annoying.

The quality of food at Bindaas used to be quite good. It has drastically gone down. Here was our order and this is the rating on each of the items we ordered
Mango pani puri – my relatives tried this and they were convinced never to try this dish again. They unnecessarily seem to have messed up a pani puri. Nothing inside the puri either.
Bhel Puri – was the worst bhel we have had. It was almost only the puffed rice. I wonder why the messed this up so badly. Don’t they have people who know how this dish should be made?
Dal Makhani – This was one good dish. Well done.
Vada Pao – This was also done well actually. Only compliments not complaints on this one. Keep it up.
Paneer tikka lababdar – huge chunks of paneer i thought they would mince the panner also the service size was too small. Taste wise it was alright, but nothing special.
Mutter Paneer – was abysmal. I have had so much better mutter panneer that cost cheaper as well in virginia suburbs. Their gravy did not hit the mark.
Garlic Cilantro and butter naan were reasonably good. The spinach panneer naan looked like a disaster, i didn’t have it but i could tell that the people eating it did not relish it. Come on Bindaas cooks and management, up your game again. You used to do so much better !!

Vada Pav, Kathi Roll, chicken bowl, and salmon bowl were all very good. We really enjoyed the quick service. Highly recommend for any students looking for cheap Indian food that still has high quality and standards.

Our experience at Bindaas was a little disappointing. Although the service was great – we were seated promptly even during peak hours and served well, the food was such a let down. The portion sizes were very small and the food was either too salty or too bland for our liking. For the price, it’s definitely not worth it.

Spacious place. The food is good. Got Ragusa Pattice, paneer lababdar and loaded fries. All tasted good.
The wait for the check was quite long, it took them 20 mins just to get the check. Other than that the service was decent.
