Very happy with the vegan options here! The matcha was good, not too grassy and not too milky. I got the Avalon Hash, which comes with a very large portion, I could have split it with someone. The tofu was not my favorite, it could use some time marinating in the sauce. Other than that, I was happy with the vibes in here! We also got their vegan cosmic brownie to go. We warmed it up in the microwave a week after purchasing, and it was rich, hot chocolate deliciousness!

Very yummy food. Vegan and vegetarian options. Brunch had a lot of good options. French onion soup is a must! French dip sandwhich delicious! The crispy potato tacos portion was a little small. Staff were kind and good service.

Nice new renovation, kind of dark vibe wish there was more natural light but it was nice

Great food! We enjoyed the Mushroom Burger, the Roasted Veggie Bowl (with Tofu), the blueberry pancakes from the kids menu, the mushroom gravy, and the potato cakes.

The Avocado toast plated well but wasn’t as tasty (the avocado was bland and the toast had the overpowering bitter taste of olive oil) but everything else was top notch. Would highly recommend going to Avalon. Also, the staff was super polite and great hosts 🙂

We stopped by because this is one of the only Gluten Dude vetted restaurants in the area, which will cater to my celiac disease.

Ordered the Elote Salad, and my husband the French toast. Alerted them to my allergies, and they were beyond diligent in catering to us. Which we really appreciate.

Not to mention, this is easily the meal we’ve had in a long time. FANTASTIC!!!

Amazing hidden gem. It’s located right next to Pretzel Bell on Main Street. Lots of folks seem to order coffee and leave, but they are truly missing out on some delicious food! The smoked Salmon toast is absolutely amazing. Most of the servers are good, though, I’ve had a couple that seemed surprised to find that they were on the clock and shocked when I asked for a coffee refill. Still, the consternation is well worth it for the high quality food and coffee! The atmosphere is Ann Arbor in a nutshell. Give this place a try! You won’t regret it.

The service was fabulous. My dining partner said he has had service before from our same server and that she has been working there for about eight years. I find that amazing in this day and time.
The menu is extremely diverse. They are a breakfast, brunch, lunch restaurant only their menu covers all three!
You can get anything from avocado toast, to oatmeal, to specialty crafted sandwiches and some delicious pancakes and French toast .
The coffee was great too. My dining partner had an orange juice which was freshly squeezed.
If you’re in Ann Arbor in the downtown area, stop in to the Avalon for absolutely exquisite service and food that is stellar!!!

My friends and I went here for brunch and I had made reservations for us, and they had our table ready before the reservation time which was awesome! We got seated and they had forgotten one place setting/menu and we had to ask for another. My friends got drinks and they looked pretty, and they said they were good. Then we ordered food, I got the brioche French toast with over-medium eggs. The French toast was extremely underwhelming. They looked like two pieces of wonder bread with some berries thrown on top. It tasted good, and the eggs were cooked to perfection, but I was disappointed in how much the meal cost and it looked like something my 12 year old could make at home. My friend let me have one of her potato cakes and they did NOT taste anything like potato. I thought they were going to be like a hash brown, they tasted like falafel. The aioli on them was spicy and had good flavor. My other friend got the biscuits and mushroom gravy and she said it was very good. I really was hoping to be more impressed since I had heard such amazing things about the Avalon in Detroit. Likely don’t need to come back here.

A solid smash for brunch the mushroom burger was my favorite and they had fun cold brew flavors, although the strawberry cold brew had no distinct strawberry flavor to it. The bacon avacado egg sandwich was good but the bread really eroded my mouth it felt like I was chewing for 3 eons, but ig that’s the case with sourdough. Dude also the bacon on the sandwich was delicious. BE WARNED ITS PRICEY

2025 Update: Their location moved and merged with Pretzel Bell and it honestly saved their restaurant in my opinion. The service got significantly better. I no longer had to wait basically an hour for brunch, We got seated right away – got our orders taken within a reasonable amount of time and got our food and checks all within 30-45 minutes. We weren’t left with where did our waiter/waitress go for an hour as we waited for our checks. Significantly better since they got bought out or merged.

The food was good, however the service was terrible. The waiter did not come back to refill our waters the entire hour visit. He didn’t really come back to check on us. When I got up to use the restroom I spotted him chatting with the bartender instead of grabbing our checks. I saw him continuing to chat while we waited for about 15 minutes for our checks to come in.
