My husband and I stopped in for a snack. We shared a burger. It was delicious. I ordered a margarita. It was not good at all. I don’t know if they make these at the bar if they use a premix, but it tasted like pre-mixed base.

The manager is awesome. We came in for the Bears/packers game and she was so accommodating and went out of her way to make us feel special and taken care of when she was so busy! Will definitely be coming back because of her. Food and drinks were great too!

Great food. Had the shawarma, loaded nachos and son had a Benchmark burger. All were so good and plenty of food for two. Came out fast and our server was really great!

As the North Wells Street/Old Town area of Chicago is reestablishing itself on the food scene, benchmark has stepped out to the front. With a redesigned space and new menus, they’re definitely a place to check out for happy hour, dinner or when you can grab their lunch. Also to be noted-they have space for private parties AND have some pretty fun events for the holiday season.
I’m all about space and comfort and there is lots of room here and it’s decorated so cute ☺️ The upstairs area looking down over the entire space is pretty cool and there’s a bar up there!
I have to give honorable mention to the Thai Chicken Wings – those flavors were hitting and my guest loved The Benchmark Burger; it has a house ground brisket, short rib and chuck patty blend and my girl loved it! Other new menu items include their Boom Pow Shrimp , Greek Salad, Hummus and more!
It is definitely a cool spot to grab lunch, have happy hour after a loooonnnggggg day at work or to catch dinner and a game with friends. Check them out and tell em that Bri from Planes and Plates sent you! Enjoy!

I went here with my friend Connor a couple months ago and we tried the duck empanadas, I really liked them so I ordered them again. It’s a slow roasted Duck leg with sea salt, its more gamey, and I prefer it over Chicken. But, I do love chicken wings, so we also got the Thai Chili wings with pickled chili, peanut sauce, mint, basil and lime. We also tried the grilled halloumi salad, the Mediterranean flavors really blended well together and was a great healthy option. For the main we had the chicken shawarma which was very reminiscent to the grilled halloumi salad, but definitely had more protein. I am a huge fan of lobster rolls, and shout out to the chef for not making this mayo based because I think lobster rolls should be mainly butter and lobster. Extra points on the perfectly toasted and fluffy new England roll, and for the side you should try the sweet potato fries with caramelized onion dip.

What a fun and great place, favored by the younger, local crowd. The open air feeling and interior is really well designed, reminds me of someplace warm like Los Angeles with the chic touch of Miami.
The quality of the food was amazing and if I could, I’d recommend Michelin to drop by and rate it. I had the lettuce shrimp wrap and it is worthy of being served in Manhattan for double the price.
BTW, happy hour has half price appetizers, which makes this spot a must go. Affordable fine dining? Yes.

We come here regularly for trivia and generally like it, but the last few times the service has been absolutely terrible. From servers never checking in at our tables to acting like it’s an inconvenience to take our orders, it’s seemingly impossible to get any service. The food isn’t bad, but it’s hardly worth it anymore. The only redeemable quality seems to be that happy hour goes until 7.

Jimmy was more than exceptional. My friend had a food allergy and started going into anaphylactic shock. Jimmy provided first aid care and gave her EpiPen. We were all too distraught to open the EpiPen and he had no problems helping us out as she went limp from lack of oxygen and airway clearance. She even had an accident and he didn’t make her feel embarrassed, he quickly cleaning everything up with no judgement.
