Reviews
I ordered Judd mat Gaardebounen, the iconic national dish featuring smoked pork collar slowly cooked and served with broad beans, potatoes, and a savory sauce—it’s hearty, flavorful, and exactly what you’d expect from Luxembourgish comfort food. I also tried Bouneschlupp, a classic green bean soup with potatoes and smoky sausage, which was rich and satisfying. The portions were generous, and the flavors were spot-on: well-seasoned, comforting, and authentically tasty without being overly heavy. Overall, the food was definitely a highlight and lived up to expectations for traditional Luxembourgish fare.
That said, the service left something to be desired. The staff seemed distracted or perhaps overwhelmed—possibly due to a busy evening—but they came across as somewhat indifferent. Orders took longer than necessary to take and deliver, refills weren’t offered proactively, and there was minimal warmth or engagement when interacting. It wasn’t rude, just noticeably lacking in attentiveness and enthusiasm, which contrasted with the generally friendly vibe I’ve encountered elsewhere in the country.
Despite the service shortcomings, the quality of the food made the meal worthwhile. If you’re craving genuine Luxembourg specialties in a cozy setting, this place delivers on the plate—just don’t expect overly attentive hospitality. I’d probably return for the authentic dishes alone, but I’d hope for a bit more warmth next time.
Bonus points for accessibility ♿ — they have an accessibility chair to reach the downstairs toilet, which is thoughtful and much appreciated.
Only plot twist? A very enthusiastic Christmas celebration happening right next to us Loud, yes… festive, also yes. All in all, delicious food, warm hospitality, and a lively atmosphere — 4 stars well earned ⭐⭐⭐⭐
We came to this amazing place hoping to enjoy local food and experience the authentic vibe and it definitely delivered. The food was super tasty, the staff was incredibly friendly, and we had a great time.
One thing we noticed: you might want to make a reservation. We got the last available table on Friday around 8 pm.
P.S. You can come with your dog, they’ll even get a bowl of water!
I attended this restaurant on a Friday evening, guided by many online good reviews about it but, as it was late, approaching closing time, they were not able to accommodate me (the manager, however, very kindly directed me towards another restaurant serving traditional dishes from Luxembourg).
I returned the following evening (having made a reservation at lunch time) and immediately noticed how the manager and all the staff were incredibly friendly, polite and helpful.
The menu had a very interesting selection of local and international dishes.
I opted for Luxembourg’s national dish, “Judd mat Gaardebounen”: pork with broad beans, which was very, very tasty, accompanied by a local Luxembourgish beer.
For the dessert, I had a lime sorbet with mint and vodka “The Colonel’s Cup”.
I do not know who the Colonel is or was, but their choice of dessert is certainly commendable!
The atmosphere of the restaurant was very warm and welcoming.
It left me with the sincere desire to return to Luxembourg, to see more of the country and sample more of its food.
I truly recommend this place!
I arrived at 2:00 PM and asked if it was still possible to eat. I was told yes, but that I needed to order quickly. I ordered the menu of the day, which was a chicken supreme. The chicken was slightly pink inside, but it tasted very good, so I thought it would be fine.
Unfortunately, despite the good taste, I had a severe case of food poisoning afterwards.
For future customers, it might be better to cook the chicken a little longer…
Take care and all the best.
