Banh Appetit

  4.9 – 1,064 reviews   • Vietnamese restaurant

We are a small local business, fast casual dining restaurant. Specialties include Banh Mi sandwiches, with proteins that are inspired by Southeast Asian flavors and a fan favorite would be our crispy french fries. We also have vermicelli noodle salad bowls, broken rice bowls, and a variety of appetizers. We have vegetarian options as well, such as our mock duck curry and fried tofu. We were previously in a different location and have since moved to a different location with a re-branding of our name, but we still serve the same great food with a couple of new additions.

Unassuming eatery fixing up classic Vietnamese sandwiches, finger foods & make-your-own rice bowls.

Great moden spot for bahn mi! Excellent value, with fries being particularly good. Very crunchy and hot to the point where I had to wait before eating them. I prefer Lu’s Sandwich for bahn mi, since their pickled vegetables are more flavorful and the bred has a great crust, but my sandwich was still satisfying and I was happy with my experience.

Ordered a Special and a Pulled Pork Banh Mi w/ fries & drink combo to go. Great open atmosphere once I entered. Staff was friendly and area was clean. Street parking may be difficult if during busy times. Food was delicious. Both Bahn mi were made well and the fries were great with a side of spicy mayo. Would return again to try other menu items.

The fries were excellent—crispy, well-seasoned, and the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the sandwich was pretty bland; the meat was tough, and the bread was stiff, which made it hard to enjoy. The spring rolls had good flavor, but the meat inside was also on the tougher side. The dipping sauce was okay, though nothing special.

Good ingredients in the traditional Banh Mi. Great pate and pork, plus the spice was spot on.

But what is up with the chewy and heavy texture of that BUN?? That’s not a Vietnamese Baquette at all. It truly overshadows the quality of the ingredients, what a shame….

Thank you for the simple yet effective wrapping. No need for custom bags or four-color wrappers; just the way you wrapped it and handed it over was good…. It’s street food!

Also, include the “Name” or, better, an Order Number on your final order confirmation page, to minimize pickup confusion.

Very delicious little spot on campus. You order at the counter and they will call out your number. You can pick from a bowl or a sandwich. I always get a side of fries because they are fantastic. I believe they recently updated the inside so there is a good amount of seating.

We stopped in for quick dinner after a long day of appointments. This turned out to be the PERFECT place to grab a bite to eat. The food is great, the service is excellent and the decor makes the place so so comfortable to just let the day go and enjoy the food.
We both had the chicken lemongrass sandwich and two pork egg rolls. My husband also had fries and a soda. Everything was excellent. The egg rolls were hot and crisp. The sandwiches had the perfect amount of cucumber, jalapeno, green onion, pickled carrots and daikon and my husband said his fries were great.

Accessibility: the tables are narrow so if you’re in a wheelchair you can’t pull all the way up to the table. I have a narrow rigid chair and even mine didn’t fit between the table legs. At the large 8 person table, the underside of the table is solid and flared and wheelchair footplates prevent pulling up.

I do highly recommend checking this place out. I hope they add an accessible table or two. I’ll definitely be back!

I really liked the Vermicelli Salad. It is very delicious and the amount is more than enough with fried tofu and egg rolls. Especially the size of egg rolls are very big and tasty. I ordered online and they did a good job in packing it.

Update: this time I ordered chicken curry and veggie egg rolls in the restaurant. The taste of the chicken curry was good, and egg rolls were very tasty. This was one of the best packing i have ever seen.

This low-key but comfortable eatery knocked our socks off with a rainbow of flavors.

The nondescript entrance, kind of like entering a strip mall establishment, leads you to order at a counter. The menu is simple, divided between sandwiches, wraps, salads, and bowls. Essentially, you pick one of those items and then pick your favorite protein to go with it. (There are vegan options as well.) There is a nice selection of appetizers and sides to accompany your dinner. The dining room is plain but comfortable.

We chose the pork and beef combo, the chicken, and ordered pork in our spring rolls. Service is friendly, but slow. We were the only people in the restaurant, and it took approximately 15 – 20 minutes to get a sandwich, a rice bowl, and an appetizer.

Oh slow service notwithstanding, the portion sizes were generous and the flavors were robust. Definitely worth the wait. I’ve honestly never had a more flavorful spring roll. All of the ingredients were exceptionally fresh, and the fried pork strips inside burst with flavor. My pork and beef rice bowl was essentially a mound of banh mi ingredients, layered over rice. Mouthwateringly good. The pork wrap was also excellent. (They are very generous with the cilantro, so if you’re not a fan, make sure you let them know to leave it out.)

The pricing is also very reasonable. Combine the great value with great food and friendly service and you have a five-star establishment. We will definitely be bringing friends and family back here for more.

It’s okay, I’d come back. Had the Thai chicken curry sandwich and it was alright. The fries are nice and crispy which is a plus overall, but at the end of the day the food is just okay. Definitely a spot to grab lunch if you are at the U and don’t have a ton of time. Service was pretty quick too!
