Better go hungry when you come to The Shack! This place is absolutely worth the stop. The portions are generous, the food is cooked just right, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly or attentive. I really like that some meals can’t be substituted—it keeps the dishes true to how they were meant to be enjoyed, and honestly, they’ve got it perfected already. It’s one of those places that doesn’t try too hard because it doesn’t have to—it’s just that good.

I paid about $12 for a bacon sausage egg and cheese extra toasted eggs well done with mayonnaise and white cheddar cheese BUT what I got was a double sausage double egg sandwich. Food was cooked well done to my perfection. But what restaurant does it cut the sandwich in half? …..the kind of restaurant that doesn’t get your order right? I’m on break so I’m unable to wait to have another sandwich made by asking on behalf of your customers in the east Lyme community please do better.

This was a great place to stop and eat for me and my family. Great portion sizes the food was delicious just a little to much use of onion but other than then it was great. The service was great the young man who waited on us was very nice and respectful and checked on us frequently if we needed anything.

Absolutely the best breakfast place around!! They have very good prices and very good meal sizes. “The Mess” is one of my favorites. The cornbread is the absolute best around. Misty was our server and she was very efficient and friendly. Thank you for a great breakfast!!

Really neat diner w filling food that’ll last you all morning-

Pulled into the shack and was honestly amazed at the portion sizes and just the food in general. We were prepping for a drive and this was the perfect spot to get our day going. The diner has a cute ambiance too, and the staff were super friendly.

I just moved here and had one of the most stressed weeks in years. The entire dining experience from start to finish was a wonderful oasis in the midst of all that chaos. The people were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed and casual. I ordered The Mess and it was amazing. When I asked for hot sauce, I had me choice of three different ones! That was a first. Very impressive and I plan on making The Shack a regular stop.

When you order two eggs, poached medium and they come out runny and not medium, they need to send their cooks back to school. it’s too bad that East Lyme doesn’t have a better breakfast place.

Top notch breakfast spot with cute New England charm! Great value for the $$. “The Mess” was AMAZING and I added a side of sausage gravy. The cornbread was crispy and delicious with the sweet butter. Will definitely be coming back- we were coming home from Mohegan Sun and stopped in for breakfast.

An amazing amount of good food at a great price.

I love breakfast restaurants and while I know this is more than that – I thought it would be worth a try and I’m delighted I did. It’s a really cool place with lots of antique things on the wall and a diner feel. Everyone was super nice and tag-teaming a very busy restaurant.

I had the shanty and was truly shocked at how much food I got. I literally could not finish everything and it was so tasty. My wife was in the same boat – too much food to finish. The food was excellent – everything you could expect as far as eggs, cheese and sausage should deliver.

Decided to come here after the good reviews pointed us here while traveling. Boy I was not disappointed. I had the Rubin Melt. The bread was fresh rye, plenty of sauerkraut, and good sauce. The fries where excellent and crispy.

Wife had the Turkey Melt and she was equally pleased.

We also had the Cornerstone pie, and a blackberry strudel.

Our server was a young lady who was a superstar. Very friendly, fast and efficient. She got a great tip.
