We celebrated a 30th birthday here and had a great time. The service was super friendly and made us feel really welcome. The food was excellent especially the Peking duck which was an easy 10/10. Everything tasted amazing and the atmosphere was perfect for a special night. Would definitely come back and can highly recommend this place.

Yu Garden Restaurant is truly a gem for authentic Chinese food lovers! The flavors are rich and traditional, and the duck is absolutely amazing—crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside. The portions are generous, and the prices are totally reasonable.
I highly recommend coming with a group so you can share and try different dishes together, as the servings are quite large. The atmosphere is great, and the service is efficient. If you’re looking for real Chinese flavors in town, this is the place to be!

I visited Yu Garden recently and had an average experience. From my personal perspective, the dishes we ordered—specifically the Peking Duck did not meet my expectations in terms of flavor. For me, the pricing felt high relative to the portion size and taste. While the service was polite, I personally did not find the value-for-money to be quite right on this occasion.

All in all a fantastic place to have proper authentic Chinese cuisine. We’ve had a very hot and spicy beef share platter. Staff was mindfully double checking if we can cope with it and yes we loved it.

Food is great! But poor service. We ordered duck, pork, tofu and jasmine tea. All good, I would have liked more variety of vegetables but the flavour was great. However, once we arrived and were taken to our table, nobody approached, we had to stand up and take a menu. We kept waiting, nobody came, tried to ask three different waiters and after 35 min we could order. Food came and one person didn’t have any cutlery or napkins. Funny thing is they even asked for tip ?!

Not only do they serve the BEST Peking Duck that I/we have tried outside of Beijing (and I have triede many) this is by far the best and most authentic and best tasting food in the “Northern part” of Europe (until I am proven wrong)!!
I/we will come here again to eat – no doubt – we will even drive a detour to come and eat here…

Beautiful Restaurant. Around 17:30 there were not so many people so we could enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant, but from 18:00 getting too crowded. Staffs are caring but can see they are stressed. We ordered a whole roasted Peking duck, tasted wonderful! I prefer the sauce here to the original one; the sauce tastes more peanutty. 3 pieces of dimsum were ok but not juicy enough. The red wine ‘Wild pony’ tastes flat than it’s description. But definitely we would like to visit here again with our family.

Absolutely loved Yu Garden! It feels like a little escape to China right in the city—with traditional architecture, koi ponds, and a peaceful courtyard. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor (we especially enjoyed the Shanghai-style dishes). It’s a calm, relaxing spot with great service—perfect for a quiet lunch or just soaking in the atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back!

I’m always wary of “best food I’ve tasted outside [insert relevant city]” reviews, but on a trip to Hamburg we gave Yu Garden a try. Seriously, the glowing reviews are warranted in this instance. An awesome exterior and interior. The food was cooked to perfection. The team very attentive but not overwhelming. If we ever visit Hamburg again, we’ll definitely visit Yu Garden!

I want to go back as some food from other tables smelled amazing, that got me pretty excited to try this place out. To this point I still dont know what smelled so good, but we decided to order whatever was the most appealing to us from the menu. The food got served quite quickly.
When our food arrived it was pretty tasty, but it didnt meet my expectations built by the previous smell, as a final remark i think it is a bit overpriced. We ordered 1 entry and 2 main dishes, 1 beer/tee per person, and the bill was already 74 euros, im new in hamburg so idk if it is in the normal range of prices, might be!
I will definitely go back as the decoration is perfect for spending a nice evening with friends or a date. And maybe if im lucky, get to try one of the dishes that smelled amazing.
